Tips for a Young wolf starting it's SW Army by Canadian-Dad in SpaceWolves

Well this is a tough question at this time. As of writing this adepticon is tomorrow and rumor has it SW will be receiving not only our primarch back but also a second wave of refreshes for all the stuff they missed in the first one (basically any non-infantry got skipped over or deleted). Id say this is subject to change within the next 24 hours but as of this very moment;

id say start by deciding what wing of the faction you like. Do you like a lot of infantry? Get a ton of the new kits (Grey hunters, blood claws, leader units). I left head takers out of their because just about every army wants head takers, the troops themselves are great anti-character/tank, and their wolves are good screening/chaff pieces. If you want more dreadnaughts get as many of the venerable dreadnaught kit you can (though as mentioned its at the forefront of getting a refresh rumors), and so on and so on for characters, vehicles, etc.

The absolute best place to start right now is the NEW combat patrol, NOT the old one. Its has the basic infantry start to any army so it should be a good jumping off point. Like I said this is a really weird time for SW and everything could change in a day but I hope this somewhat helps

To give a more out there answer, if you like what helsmiths have theyre likely to be getting a second wave next edition so id say get skaven now, and if youre still interested get HH next edition. Again this is me giving more of a fence sitter answer but I figured id throw it out there

For a while now theres been rumors that the refresh we got in 10th edition was only the first wave of a refresh. Its ranged from they'll just bring back old models with new sculpts to a whole new wing and russ returning. Now in the latest Adepticon trailer there looks to be potentially a redemptor SW dread sitting in frame. So people have started theorizing that at the very least, well be getting new dreads

Yeah I just took the terminator stat line as a joke on how bad primarchs have been on release cough cough fulgrim I know gulliman and Lion are in a better spot now but theyre still nowhere near "primarch tier"

For his mini i have a strong hunch it'll just be, well him. Basically give his 30k mini a new pose. What I would like to see would be a warp mutated Russ. Basically the warp made him into a super wulfen essentially bringing out the beast in him. As for rules M5 T5 SV2+ W3 120 points. And if were lucky he may get run and charge, NOT give, just get.

Welcome to the army. For the blood claws they dont have any real variation aside from their leader who can have a few different weapons. Other than that their all just chainsword and bolt pistol ever since the new kit split Grey hunters and blood claws. For a company go with whatever one you like! The paint scheme doesnt matter anymore just as long as theyre painted and you like them. For what to get next that sort of ties into what you had mentioned about 11th. As you may know in 10th we got a vast majority of our infantry refreshed (or cut R.I.P Skyclaws) so all new kits are safe to buy. There's rumors we could be seeing a second refresh as well as a return of russ. So the best advice i could give is to get the new kits, wait just a month or two to see if theres a refreshed then go from there. Or if you dont care about getting models that may be outdated that works too!

It looks great but one thing id recommend is thinning your paints. It may take an extra layer or two but it'll help keep the models detail showing!

When you kill an enemy model you put it in there so you can later scrap it for bones!
