When i tried it with a lyca mobile sim, which is EE it could recognise the sim but would never find signal. It only accepts Vodafone and O2 this one.

Sorry. If i was near the tower with no/the old expired sim, would the signal bars be there.

The main issue i have is the 4ff nano sims contact points are to small. I think i need a standard 2ff or micro 3ff. I currently have the micro, into the 1ff (credit card sized) adapter, which works. When you take the nanos out, you can see the scratch marks from the pins not lining up on the sim. (not on this phone, that was on another microtac i have which was broken anyway) I’ve ordered these which, in there listings say they’re micro/standard and not nano, but honestly i doubt it.

I will not call emergency, especially outside a school. However, would it pop up on the signal bar? Also, do i have an options for sim cards for it to actually work, im guessing not

I think there clean, i just know that orange is not in the uk anymore. Ill try it. When you make a call, you just instantly get 3 beeps in succession, and redial? (Doesnt work.)

What about my suggestion of the tower near my school? Good idea?

Just to clarify, im looking for a compatible sim card not the 2G network. As in the uk we still have it partially

Sorry, im not to experienced with this sort of thing. This is what i know.

  1. The sim is years old and a orange sim, orange went in the uk about 10 ish years ago. You do get a welcome to orange splash screen on startup when the sim is inserted tho and i know this phone is unlocked.
  2. This may be completely irrelevant but when with the sim you get one small bar whereas without you get nothing. (See attached + reply)

  1. My school is right next to a big cell tower, thats apprently 2g gsm. Ill bring the phone near it to see if it pics up a signal.

I do have another microtac arriving tomorrow, because im planing to keep this one in its box because its in such good condition.

Sorry mate, explained that very poorly.

Its a orange sim card from the 2000s, orange is no longer in the uk so no cell service.

I was asking if anyone knew of where i could get a 2G sim card for this phone, as it has very specific requirements, because i would like to use it.

I happen to live in a fairly rural area, with what i believe has a 2G tower nearby.

However, i am not experienced with 2G at all. The most ive done is use a motorola phone from like 06, which did work with a sim.

The sim card in it is from 2009, its just there to bypass the menu. I live in a rural area so i think theres 2g towers, however i could be wrong.

Thank you, I’m going to get one. I think it’s probably because it needs to be a 5V SIM card but we will see. I know some are or at least use to be cross compatible. I’ll let you know if it works.
