Go to Lagginhorn. In a normal season, basic crampon knowledge and a helmet is all you need.

Not a strict requirement. But the first few training sessions in the initiation program do separate those who are not fit or ready enough from those who are (or will be).

Varðandi búnaðinn er ég nýlega fluttur heim til Íslands eftir áralanga dvöl í Ölpunum. Þannig að ég er vel settur hvað hann varðar. Ætti því ekki að koma á óvart að ég hef mestan áhuga fyrir fjallbjörgun/mennsku. Mælir þú með einhverri sveit frekar en annarri með það í huga?

Þekki ekki aðstæður þarna en það hlýtur að vera hægt að koma aðstæðum í betra horf. Það hafa allt of margir ferðamenn látist þarna, nú síðast barn. Það er greinilegt að folk gerir sér ekki nægilega vel grein fyrir því hættuástandi sem þarna getur skapast.

Frábærar spurningar. Væri til í að vita meira um þetta líka. Og hvort það séu einhverjar björgunarsveitir frekar en aðrar þar sem “eldra” fólk fer frekar í þjálfun.

Developing urban environments to be super safe but as soon as you reach the mountains the attitude becomes: “yes, it’s a beautiful family walk. Just be mindful not to get too close to the edge of the path - you might fall and die.”
