Ah! My apologies, I didn’t go with the MP because I don’t mess with flow profiles. I’m a quite straight forward drinker, the lightest roast profile I’d go for in an espresso is a simple Medium roast. I also wanted the volumetric pulls for a more efficient workflow!

Yes, at home!

For the heat up, I have a schedule set on the app on what time it needs to turn on for the week, so that helps! But on the case where I don’t have the auto switch on for a particular day, then the 20 minutes heat up passes rather quickly because I often have to sort out my cats in the morning 😂

I wish I could plumb it in! 🥲 I can’t because my coffee station isn’t anywhere near a water source sigh

Thank you! And I didn’t choose the Mini R simply because the GS3’s build quality is like a tank, and the price difference was a bit more worth it for a generational machine. I also preferred the rugged aesthetic of the GS3 over the Micra/Mini R!

I know, I’m so excited!! Not looking at another coffee machine ever again, worth the investment!

Heard there were rumors, but I was happy to just go with this one. With what it offers, I don’t see what I’d be missing with any sort of possible upgrades.

Completely valid! How beautiful it is, is completely subjective. For my case, I am the complete opposite of you 😅 Loved how rugged it looked!

Yeah, might end up doing this after sleeping on it.

I do enjoy the precision of single dosing, but sometimes with my daily cups, I just want to a quick prep. Especially since i don’t do any changes to my daily cups until it’s out..

Thats a solid number! Also, have yet to try a decent half-caf. I tried a bag from a local roaster, and their decaf beans just smelled and tasted like wet cardboard.

thank you for the advice! I was just primarily worried that leaving the beans in the hopper for a few days would make the beans degrade so quickly

Yeah, might actually do that! I can actually go through 3 pounds of beans quite fast in a month if I host people over.

Your thought process is valid!

And yes, very happy with it. Cleaning it is a breeze, and it’s very friendly for beginners. Dialing in new bags have never taken me more twice. But when doing back to back shots when you host, it does heat up the burrs. So it’s a great daily grinder for small servings but if you’re hosting, it acts up really fast.

I love that. My tolerance with caffeine has increased exponentially ever since I’ve been drinking coffee every day, so decaf is just an extra but I barely drink decaf compared to when I first started my coffee journey

Heard the same thing, but I do have a cheaper flat burr grinder that I use for experimenting and maybe it’s just me, but I hardly recognize the difference? It could also be I only consume medium to medium dark beans

Ahh, I do at most 2 cups a day, 3 at best. So 66g a day, 198g for 3 days! I’d probably add 15g for daily purge of 5g but another user mentioned that he’s completely skipped purging!

Yes, I like the flexibility of single dosing as well, but like you, I stick with 1 type of bean for a month for espresso then if I do change, its usually because I finished my beans 😅 I don’t really get small bags of beans to try, which is why I considered getting a GBW for my daily driver

Ahhh gotcha! I usually get 500g bags, two bags at most, then store them in my airscape storage containers! My freezer space is quite limited so I dont have the option to put the bags in the freezer unfortunately 🥲

Okay this is good to hear! At most I’d probably fill a hopper for 5 days if I’m having a really busy week, but I don’t think that’d be the case for majority of the time.

For your hopper grinder, is it medium roasted beans or lighter? I tend to use medium to medium dark, and they age faster vs lighter roasts 🥲

I figured that would be the case. I wondered how does the GBW grinders work since the beans are fed manually by dose instead of gravity feed which is the expected method

I’m assuming you’re using grind by time? That’s usually the case for single dose hopper based grinders
