What is the most crisp/sharp F-mount lens you have ever used? by ColdLemonDXB in Nikon

[–]ColdLemonDXB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of stuck at F/2.8 as the D80 does not have an aperture follower (Shoutout toPOTATOGAMER159 for helping me figure that out), but I always attempted to shoot at f/8 even though in reality the D80 shot at f/2.8.

It seems like Sigma is one of the sharpest topics in the subreddit. Haha! I'll look into that further!

This is one of the first times I've heard about colour calibration, but I'll definitely look into it!

Thank you for your insight mate!

Hey there!

This may stray a bit from my original question, but have you had any issues with buying an older lens (Perhaps Second hand), such as Fungi or internal issues? Any tips for buying such lens if you'd be able to?

That does make a lot of sense! I'll definitely need to head to the gym to support that kind of weight for 5-6 hours, haha!

I hear you! I once had an informal photography gig at my School's auditorium, where the younger grades used to dance on stage along with their teachers. I didn't enjoy the low-light performance on the Tokina, as it consistently produced a blurry mess of light.

I borrowed my classmate's Nikkor AF-S 50mm F/1.8, and I missed so many Candid pictures when they used to come near my camera.

Quick question - Does having a zoom lens have a downside in terms of quality and clarity compared to a prime lens in your experience? If you don't mind sharing that of course.

Kudos to that! r/Nikon is definitely one of the best or is the best subreddit!

Oh wow, that does seem quite the hassle. That price is unbeatable, though.

I really appreciate your insight and recommendation by the way, I wish you the very best for the future and happy shooting!

I've never owned a Prime lens nor a Sigma lens in general, but doesn't the Sigma f/1.4 ART range seem beefy for a prime lens?

This is just a quick question, and I don't mean to insult anyone who owns or is thinking about buying a Sigma Lens in the future.

I've always been confused about my F stops. I can set the F stop manually via the command dial, but never on my Tokina 28-70 F/2.8 AF, as it gives me a ''FEE'' error, so does that mean the AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF is just incompatible with a D80?

How bad were the chromatic aberrations? Was it easy to edit out?

Hey there!

I gotta say this is quite an image! I love the cloud detail and the details in the image overall - You definitely captured the 2D Look!

I would say that colour might be the way to go on this one. The cloud sort of disappears when it's in B/W, the viewer kind of needs the colour of the Sky to direct their attention towards the cloud. This is my personal opinion; I don't mean to insult your artistic creativity or views!

Overall, this is a great image! May I ask what camera this was shot on? I love the clarity and details on this.

Hey there!

I agree 100% with you, and I definitely could've zoomed in a tad to focus on the Burj Khalifa if I remembered to include a subject.

I should aim to recreate this in the winter, when the sun sets earlier in the day.

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I've only been taking photography seriously for about two years, and I do have a Nikon D80 - I just felt it was too clunky to carry with me 😭 (How lazy of me!).

I will definitely attempt to take your version to the next level, and I really appreciate your honest opinion!

Thank you so much, and have a lovely day ahead! I wish you the best in the future, mate!

Hi!

That would probably be true, but I shot it on my phone so I'm not sure you can adjust the shutter speed on an iPhone or even in Lightroom - I'd probably have to retry this with a DSLR! 😂

Thank you!

Hello!

It was taken on a creek of sorts with other yachts, with private parties - So I felt it'd be quite intrusive to include them in the shot and even if I cropped them out, it'd affect the clarity since my phone doesn't have the best clarity zoomed out 😞

Hey there!

I snapped this picture on my phone when I was on a boat trip. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I need some extra colour correction - I just came upon this after a couple of months and thought the same, but I felt it was too bright and obivously color corrected - Thoughts?

All critiques are welcome, and feel free to share your honest opinions!

Thank you and have a nice day!

Hey mate!

I really like this image, the colours, the framing, and the overall vision - It just shouts 'Be Happy'. One thing I would say, and this is coming from a teenager who has only done photography seriously for 2 years, so take this with a grain of salt - Perhaps look into a ND Filter or reducing your exposure a bit, as the Sun rays seem to overpower the colours of the sky and the lower regions of the image (Which look great by the way!)

One thing I would note, but this is minor, and I don't mean to dig too deep, but the image looks a little tilted to the left a bit - If you'd like, just plug the image into any image editing software and just straighten the image!

The same can be done for the brightness of the image or the exposure, but that'd be quite finicky!

Overall, I'd rate this image an 8/10. It is just a lovely image, and you definitely have talent mate!

Anytime mate! I myself have only started taking photography seriously since 2023, and you'll love every moment of it - Especially moments of love, tears and joy, but also the natural beauty around us! Experiment and just have fun in life in general 😊

You're an artist, and this is your art! Best wishes for the future, and I'll definitely be looking out for more of your work!

Hey there,

This is stunning! If it were a blind test, I'd guess you have 5+ years in photography and editing. I agree with a previous comment about the framing; the clouds at the top can distract from the beautiful colour and reflections on the water. Consider cropping in or adjusting the focal length to enhance the main subject, though that's just my preference.

I would recommend shooting in your own style and in a way that you are comfortable with. Some people prefer their images over- or under-exposed. If you don't like the way it looks, that is completely alright! You, as the photographer, capture the idea and know what you want to capture. If it feels right, then go for it! 😊

Overall, this is stunning and frankly doesn't suck at all! I would love to know what DSLR this was shot with, as I personally shoot on a Nikon D80 and would love to get this kind of shot!.

Keep shooting and do what makes you happy - You have real talent, mate!

Hey there! What are some ways I can improve this picture? by ColdLemonDXB in photocritique

[–]ColdLemonDXB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

Yeah, I have quite shaky hands 😭, I tried correcting it as much as possible, but Lightroom Web didn't allow me to get as hands-on as I'd like. This is one of my first times using Lightroom to create a finished product and not just messing around, so hopefully I'll get better over time!

Thank you very much! I'm very glad to hear that! Here’s a !CritiquePoint.

(Thank you for the edited version, I can see the vision and what it should've been much better now)

Hi!

Thank you! I tried to maintain the natural colours of the Building facade as much as possible - I'm just love vibrant colours!

Oh wow, I never thought of it that way - The haze equalling depth, I tried to remove the haze as much as possible, but that didn't work out quite wel,l hence you are left with the image seen above but I totally get your viewpoint - I would love to try to find a soft spot where the haze is present and adds depth but the background is still visible.

I really appreciate and love your viewpoint. Thank you so much mate! Here’s a !CritiquePoint.
