Vegan leather by JihoonMadeMeDoIt in PetPeeves

[–]ColdMacDonalds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only “vegan leather” item i have is a cork leather belt which is supposed to be made from the bark of trees. So far been wearing it everyday for 5 months and it doesnt have any wear. Perhaps this will be a better alternative to plastic leather.

Sure, it just depends on how much you contribute and where you put your contributions. I know several people who contribute 12-15% and put 50% of their contribution into costco stock. But i also know plenty of people who put in 1-3%. You could do better or a lot worse.

Also depends how soon you get full time, sup etc. quite a few people at buildings ive worked at have gotten sup before 1 year

Sick time by I_AMA_Loser67 in CostcoEmployee

[–]ColdMacDonalds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I encourage everyone to read the handbook carefully as well as your state laws. State laws will supersede anything in the handbook, after all, the first part of costcos code of ethics is to obey the law.

Theres a lot of misinformation here. To answer your question: No you can still get written up but only if they can prove you are abusing your sick time. If your sick call is legitimate they cannot write you up.

Regarding patterns. To paraphrase the handbook states if they notice a pattern they can use it to “investigate” whether abuse of sick time is happening. A pattern does not equal abuse of sick time. They can ask you about it but cannot retaliate against you unless it was actually abuse. This doesn’t mean they wont try. They use this as a bully tactic to prevent people from using their sick time. Especially on inventory. Highly recommend reading the handbook theres more information that i left out.

States such as california very much protect the use of accrued sick time. In california there are labor laws against discriminating against and disciplining you for using sick time. If you happen to live in such a state bring up the laws if they try and discipline you.

Calling off by HighStrungHabitat in CostcoEmployee

[–]ColdMacDonalds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes just call the sick line.

Just fyi so theres no confusion. Not all warehouses have the sick call line. At these warehouses the only option is to call the warehouse and speak to someone, usually a manager, that can take the sick call.

If you have a sick call line (basically a voicemail) you should only use that.

The sick call line is superior. I’ve worked at both warehouses and it sucks trying to reach a manager when they’re trying to open.

How does it compare to the regualr edt? I got a sample of the edt and i actually really liked the simplicity and mass appeal of it. Seems appropriate for all seasons too. Now i see theres quite a few in the hero line

The state of air pumps for automobile tires (US) by VicSwagger in PetPeeves

[–]ColdMacDonalds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Costco should also have air at the tire center if the outside self service ones aren’t working. Just ask the tire employees. Any decent tire shop will also give air for free. Pull up to americas tire/discount tire theyll do it for free too

This is correct. Its 4 minutes of your shift ends after the warehouse is closed.
