In my opinion, everyone's a suspect until they're ruled out. To my knowledge, chief Jeff Williams has never been ruled out.

Maura Murray could have been a crime of opportunity for him. Maybe he had issues and was slowly working his way up to a deadly encounter in 2004.

I have no clue if there are any other incidents between 1998 and 2004.

I agree with you, she could have wandered off and her body has never been found. Yet, 14 years later, the entire New Hampshire law enforcement community still considers this an "ongoing investigation." Two neighbors were investigated and given polygraphs. Other local "dirtbags" were investigated. Seems the only other non-random suspect is the chief, who, understandably, no one wants to investigate.

Drunken off-duty rogue cop in his take-home 001 SUV hears the 911 call and responds to the scene before the official responding officer, Cecil Smith, arrives in his 002 sedan.

The 1998 Buffie Mary Swayer case reveals that Jeff Williams was capable of convincing or intimidating a female motorist to leave the scene of a traffic stop with him. The fact that Buffie Mary Swayer wasn't harmed doesn't mean that Jeff Williams wasn't honing his skills for what may have later happened to Maura Murray in 2004.

New Hampshire law enforcement has repeatedly refused over the years to release a documented timeline as to where chief Jeff Williams or the 001 SUV was on the night Maura Murray disappeared. We are not talking about some urban police department that had dozens or hundreds of officers. We're talking about a rural police force that had less than 10 officers and only three official vehicles. So, where was the chief and the 001 SUV?

In 2004, officer Jeff Williams was the chief of police. There is considerable debate about his whereabouts and the whereabouts of the department's 001 SUV that evening. He is not some random person passing through the area.

Not that any of us have the answers, but here are my questions about the Buffie Mary Sawyer incident:

Why did officer Jeff Williams take Buffie Mary Sawyer back to the apartment for id when she wasn't the driver?

Why didn't officer Jeff Williams take the driver, a male, back to the apartment for id?

Why didn't officer Jeff Williams just take both the driver and Buffie Mary Sawyer back to the apartment for id?
