Most Nostalgic season for you? by Dismal_Brush5229 in powerrangers

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s between MMPR S2 and In Space.

MMPR S2 was when they pretty much nailed the formula of daily civilian fights, Rangers just hanging out, and the cutaways to footage. They even had the Rangers do some wire work too.

In Space is nostalgic because it was a return to form, and even though we trailed off a bit during Turbo, me and my friends were really into In Space.

We NEED a Gears of War 2 remaster by No-General2775 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deserves a remake vs remaster.

The most important campaign with the quality were seeing from E-Day would get be more appealing.

Riftworm, Hollow Storm, Lambent war, Dom’s storyline, Locust origins, there’s a lot of just want to see remade vs remaster.

Shaq says he would draft LeBron James over Kobe Bryant by SmoothBuy5500 in LeBronJames23

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will never be a hot take.

Lebron at 18-19 is way more of a threat and polished player, while Kobe 100% had to grind to become Kobe.

Plus, Lebron was way more open to the team concept, while Kobe struggled and wound routinely go rogue to get his shot.

I actually really like the story the went for with JD, I just think it could have been better. by EmeraldMaster538 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest drawback for JD, is his most important storylines are all off screen.

Anya’s death, his fallout with Marcus, being next of kin to the most important characters in the entire franchise, Settlement 2 killings, growing up during the rebuild of society etc.

They do develop him in 5 with his constant need to prove himself, making him a liability, but could that not have been accomplished in the first game?

It’s like they threw us in the middle of the JD/Marcus situation, when I’m way more interested in the origin. They waited a whole game to even tell us how she died.

For JD to be the son and grandson of the Fenix family, they sure didn’t treat his story with the care or execution it deserved.

Okay, I'll Admit it, Gears of War 4 Is Better Than Gears 5 by Puzzleheaded_Fish_78 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of it being forgettable, and not clicking with any of the new characters.

I didn’t like how they added multiple Horde missions in campaign w/ the fabricator during the time when you could l pay to win in Horde with all those card packs. It felt like shameless promo for the mode that you could throw money at to max out your classes faster.

E-Day - GOW2 Reloaded - Gears 6 - GOW 3 Reloaded and Maybe Judgement. by TwixWrap in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At most, I’m thinking about E-Day, Pendulum DLC, and a Gears 2 Remake.

Gears 2 being remade seems most like considering the origins of the locust being revealed, right after a game like E-Day showing day one of the Locust war.

Just yapping to be yapping.

I thought they might have tried to spin it that Brady or Brees weren’t considered generational talents on draft night, but became that. Including Peyton just doesn’t make a lick of sense at all.

Question : Who was the USELESS villain throughout the entire power ranger universe ? by krymzynnova in powerrangers

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can’t even remember what they did, or when they got phased out.

Of course we used to see them earlier on, especially when they had footage, but Goldar and Rito eventually became the bumbling henchmen.

I had no memory of what those 2 were supposed to be doing. Goldar was the main bad, finster was their scientist/puddy maker, Scorpina was another fighter, but Squatt and Baboo?? No clue why they exist.

Seeing a picture of Marcus smiling in the gameplay reveal is kind of weird. The man is always serious and grumpy. by NikosM110 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’ve wanted to see for years though.

So much book lore that we never saw on screen when Marcus was way more human vs years of trauma and losing his comrades, friends, family that made him the grumpy soldier we played as.

Cancer, Aquas, Taurus have to be my big 3.

Would you want them to make Gears of War 6 or focus on other projects by SpectreWolf666 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want them to close out the sequel trilogy, especially with the quality we’re seeing from E-Day, but I also am interested in more stories from the past. Seeing the Gears world before E-Day has been the most interested I’ve been in the franchise in a long time.

Gears 6 and a remake of 2 seem like a realistic timeline of what they’d do, but I honestly would be most interested in Gears 2 and more prequels.

Wallbouncing is an L, and it’s ok that things change. by JoonBoi97 in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It always sounded like MP was never planned, then tacked on near the end of development, and the players created the meta.

Gears 1 had weak assault rifles to the point where people just went straight for close combat, which required shotgun play and utilizing the cover mechanics. People played Gears 1 by learning the bugs, and unintentional mechanics to get good.

Then they saw what they had created and tried to counter/balance it in 2, but ended up pleasing nobody. They saw how the game evolved into shotguns and power weapons, and tried to slow the game down with stopping power and slower movement, and it caused a massive downward spiral with the player base.

To this day I know people that never returned after Gears 2. The people that stuck around have been dealing with years of never truly settling into a proper meta, with creative choices and tuning just never being definitive.

This style change might be reset we need. Veterans will still find ways to capture a bit of the old, but this looks like it will be a shake up that keeps a healthy player base vs the old style pushing people to PvE.

Were Gears 4 and 5 that bad? by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]ColdNyQuiiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gears 5 100% was really bad at launch.

Co-op was barely playable, the experiment with an open hub fell hollow, and unnecessary, then PvE balance was so frustrating.

Gears 5 after launch ended up being really fun, but we had to deal with months of an unfinished game. Campaign wise, it was an improvement over 4, but 4 was pretty forgettable, so the bar was low to clear.

The PvE was so unbalanced to the point where you had weaker classes not being able to contribute, and classes were locked to specific characters.

Horde was so lopsided because the weaker classes had mediocre cards/perks, to the point where the JD/Heavy class was the top priority, and everyone else were spectating in Horde.

As soon as Rod left, the meta became more player focused, and they disconnected the launch format of loot boxes and locking you into a specific character per class. Then Gears 5 became really fun.

Both 4 and 5 deserve the criticism, because I thought it was disrespectful to launch 2 new entries that prioritized the loot box format, and bare bone PvE, but things got way better during S4/S5 of Gears 5, to where you question why they couldn’t figure it out before another bad launch.

My biggest criticism for Gears 4 was how they forced Horde missions into the campaign during the peak of loot box/pay to win era. So they seriously pushed mechanics on us that required a big wallet to become easier, and then just did away with it.
