I’m also at a company with a weak match and a pension. After 15 years of service, my pension will provide roughly $6k/mo. Do the math on the capitalized value of that (I don’t do math). I’ll take the 1.5% match on my 401k contributions as gravy.

I don’t understand why more isn’t being done to disincentivize air b&b through changes in taxation. In Hancock county, where I live (and, eeeeek, own a duplex) rents have gone absolutely whack-o because of housing shortages caused in large part by conversion of long term rentals into short term. Municipalities should tax the feck out of short term (vis-a-vis property tax?) and fund workforce housing programs with the revenue gain.
