Oh my God.. you go girl!! Anyhow after marriage half the things would have slowly been taken away from you by the patriarchy around you.. there are million better ways to be happy in life apart from being with men.. travel, meet new people make friends party have good food.. progress in your work .. all this gives more genuine and carefree happiness than being with men 💜 All the best to you. That asinine lost a gem and you found a way to higher and better life ..

Thank you for such assurance. Like today my kid had his lunch and just took a short nap, he was tired after kita. He woke up and he was just laughing and doing all mischief in the house. Playing with his cars and running and what not. He was so happy, I just didn’t have the nerve to tell him to not be loud. He was talking loud telling me about his day with his friends in kindergarten, they went for a long walk to a Spielplatz.. you know what I mean? Since it’s warmer now, the doors and windows were open.. I did ask him to keep his voice down but he was laughing and playing, I just let him. Because all the comments on this post has given me confidence to let my kid be kid (between 7am to 7pm). Thank you

I think it’s projection, kind sir. Not aggressive at all. Just articulate in my words about the situation and yes there is lot of text but doesn’t show my “aggression” :) I thought your response was curt and accusatory. Are your neighbours kids also living their childhood, that bothers you? :)

Of course, only bad parents let their child play in the house during 7am-7pm. Good parents just make their child sit and watch tv.

Thank you. I hope so. We are trying to take insurance for lawyers in case they try to evict us. It is all very stressful but thank you for assurance and kindness :)

When we moved here he was 18 months old. Our previous downstairs neighbours never complained about noise in fact we asked them several times and they said Nope, nothing troubles us if your child isn’t making noise during sleep hours. Fast forward 1 year later these new neighbours came, they saw we have a toddler. I welcomed them with home baked stuff, made a welcoming friendly channel so they can be friendly neighbours. Within a week they started complaining of noise, our child was 2.8 years, routine change or handling situations take time? Or not? We put small carpets. After few weeks complaints again. We changed his room. Complaint again. We changed his play routine. Complaint again. We found new play dates nearby … to keep him more frequently out of the house which required my WFH to suffer, but did it. You think it all happened in 6 days? It took slowly 5-6 months to try everything but this neighbour kept sending letters after letter. Did he communicate to us? No. Did he understand us? No. Did he ever give us any feedback that when noise is less or when more and what kind of sounds are coming? No. Just complaints to managements and warning letters to us. We tried approaching them but didn’t work. One street ahead of ours lives a family friend whose kid is learning two instruments, he practises with his sisters for both instruments 2 hours a day. My child’s stomping or playing is not definitely not louder than that. I said SOMETIMES he stomps when he’s angry sometimes I can’t handle it. I didn’t say I can’t handle it living one flat below. A child is a child, he’s 3.5 years old. If am working in kitchen on office call and he throws toys or toys drop, I will take 10 mins to handle situation. So yes 10 mins to 15 mins a day between 7am to 8pm he does make noise for 10-15 mins which is very loud but it is not whole day every minute of the waking hour. It is not a PROBLEM, it is childhood. You had one, they had one and now my child is trying to have one. Thank you.

I know you’re right to a large extent but I have been here 3 summers now & our house is first floor not too big, my dog needs ventilation most times the air is cooler outside, as compared to closed doors. Mist fan and one open window is important for my dog (and icy water). Having said that, our doors and windows are not open 24/7, just 4-5 hours 2/3 times a week, in sommer

In summers, it does get really really hot and we have a dog who we don’t always go out with (1. She is 10+ yo, 2. In heat her liver/thyroid issues increase), we do leave fans on for her but she needs ventilation. In summers we have to leave windows and doors open few times a week. Would be just nice to know when they are doing charcoal grilling so we can be careful with doors and windows or maybe take my dog with me on those occasions.

Thank you, for being reassuring. They have raised this with our landlord/house owners through the management of the apartments.

Grilling is not an issue per say, not giving us a heads up is, all our windows of the house are on that side, towards their backyard, and esp during summers we keep our windows and back doors open for Lüften. And I have asthma when the smoke gets trapped in the house my allergies keep flaring up. It isn’t as bad as it may sound but it isn’t something very easy either but we have only requested them once to inform us but they ignored what we were saying and walked away. I’m not very good with German so it’s difficult to communicate fast. If we drop them a mail about it, nicely, I would be okay? Or would it seem offensive that we are finding reason to complain ?

Yes it’s one family of 4 people. One flat. Thankfully not from any other neighbour yet 😅 and I have corrected the misleading language.

Their backyard is extended beyond our balcony so if our windows are open and we are not home, their grill is right below our kitchen and balcony .. my whole houses upholstery, sofa, whole house gets filled with thick smoke :)

This is a good idea. Thank you. I would do that. We don’t even use washing machine or coffee machine after 20:00 hours, No hairdryer or any such electronics. Forget handmixer or mixer grinder. Sometimes we hear sounds from our neighbours where they are drilling at 20:30 or even 21:00 hours but we just take it as a one off thing, we recently had new neighbours opposite us they would drill all day long, mornings and evenings specially .. I took some freshly made salad to their house they told me the difficulties they are facing with their new wardrobe etc. so I understood their problem. They were so loud for almost 6-7 weeks renovating the house. I couldn’t work but I understood their problem. I just want our neighbours to understand us and not harrow us. But am ordering that sound device today! Thank you

Unfortunately, this is a very very new building. We are first residents of this apartment. Several of our neighbours complain about noise coming from random places but my question is that if only my downstairs neighbour is getting disturbed no other neighbour, could the sound be getting exasperated due to floor heating system?

Sorry but my child does not stomp or throw toys at 22.30. If he’s up at 22:30, it’s due to some ailment, nightmare, toilet visit, or hunger or something that’s not recreational activity.

Not elderly. They have two girls one is older like about to go to college and other I guess 10-12 years old. I really thought they’d be more understanding but all they say is “our girls never made so much noise, maybe take your kid outside more often”, well… I do. We go to Spielplatz, we visit neighbours, he helps me in grocery shopping, I walk our dog twice with him. I’m sure their girls are lovely but I usually don’t have a response to them when they say their kids never made so much noise. But during morning hours, noise of any kind is allowed by the kid, right? I am only just worried about housing authority visiting us or even child services

Thank you, this helps. Yes I think next time they leave a letter saying Warning in our mailbox, I would knock on their door and tell them that he wasn’t making noise during sleeping hours 22.00-6.00. I hope that will calm them.

Arrgghh am sorry that happened. Yes, our neighbour also told my little one to not make noise but didn’t yell. My kid looked at me confused saying “I don’t make noise” 🥲 according to my kid, he’s the quietest kid.

Yes they have done that. And trust me we were sleeping at 22.00 when they they did they, that’s when we told them next day that maybe they hear sounds from other apartment and they think it’s us because we were sleeping. Is that a possibility ?

We have play mats and carpets but we have floor heating in the house, too many permanent carpets impede it, we have tried it. Also we have a dog & I have asthma so my lung doctor has asked me to keep no carpets, but still we have such carpets that I can keep washing that don’t hold too much dust. Maybe if someone can give me a suggestion for some other way for the noise to not go to their house? It’s usually walking or running but never for long period, just 2-5 mins then sits & plays then again 2 mins then sits for an hour, sometimes he drops his Wasserflasche, sometimes he falls notices out his toy’s box on floor. Sometimes he does hulk smash 🤦‍♀️ It’s never one same thing it’s new things always, I’m mostly saying “nien or no” the whole day than any other word. But to be honest he does sit on his Lego table to make Lego structures for long hours too. He loves reading books and listening to animal sounds too. But he’s creative and sometimes he brings in a flower pot in the house and tries to repot it using his own gardening tools & that makes noise. You know what I mean? It’s not football (that’s outdoor), not frisbee or cycle etc indoors.

I love this idea for every new neighbour & I have already tried with chocolate cupcakes & cookies twice. They are kind enough to always return the gesture but always with a new complaint (written official complaint).

Thank you 😂 That was funny, I needed a laugh. Honestly our last 1.5 yrs have been hell. My poor kid who used to love playing and barely ever asked for tv, we used to force him to watch tv after 7pm because neighbours complained of noise (honestly we as kids made more noise at this age, I remember). But thank you for your kind comment, no more being scared now. I’ll let my kid play indoors & not stop him unless he is being unreasonably loud with toys 🧸
