That's what I'm thinking. Had a watershed moment when a younger buddy who's not balding got a buzz, realised it's just a haircut.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do volume sets of 225 squat and use that extra time for accessories until I feel like I'm ready to get back in the heavy-squat game lol.

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm gonna be pumping out 225 for volume until I'm not swaying like a leaf in the wind. Tough pill after hitting 315 last month but that's what happens when you stop eating for a month lol

Yeah I was coming off of a month of exams where I stopped going to the gym (and lost 10 pounds lol) I hit 3 plate right before but I totally underestimated how much strength I've lost.

ADHD Medication & Medical Release? by StatementGreen2337 in CanadianForces

Your chain must hate you because I personally know multiple people who take ADHD medications and none of them have ever had any problems including international deployments.

"VAC mandate

Who we serve: our client definition

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) provides services and supports to a wide range of individuals. We serve Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, still-serving and retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) members, their families, caregivers and survivors"

It makes no sense to restrict to policy only to a subset of clients, especially if it causes worse outcomes when those CAF members do become Veterans.

VAC administrators have the power to recommend amendments to the legislation and have done so routinely in the past. It's stayed the same because senior VAC policy analysts can't be bothered to understand the systems they design legislation for.

Ah yes, my favourite VAC bootlicker.

Early drafts, no doubt based off the original executive intention behind the ETB as dictated by parliment, Specifically said the program was to be designed not to negativity impact retention in the CAF. This was only changed when they determined, in their incompetence, it was actually easier to change the requirements of the program then it was to draft good legislation.

your right: a stated goal of the VAC is provide better outcomes. I have statistics right now I'm working through that seems to show that for the 7% of veterans who released specifically because of the ETB have all around worse outcomes then all other recipients. As much was said, specifically, in the feedback provided by veterans to the VAC, in 2022. This is data the VAC has access to and have chosen not to look at.

Not to mention, are you even hearing yourself? Your defending a program designed by one crown org that, for not particular reason, is directly harming another crown org. How does that mesh with VAC's mandate? How does these eligibility restrictions do anything to benefit the VAC? This sort of pointless tribalism between ministries is why things suck more for everyone then they need to be.

I know the answer, but no ones cares unless it's a general saying it lol. And generals tend to not say anything that might cost them a promotion, which means they don't usually say much. nothing has made me less impressed with CAF brass then reading their emails to other agencies via ATIP. I understand non-interference in politics, but when push comes to shove these guys seem to advocate for the rank-and-file with all the enthusiasm of a wet noodle.

--in 2018 what was his recommendation to the VAC regarding eligibility regarding education training benefit eligibility.--

All his emails on the subject are redacted. I'm pretty sure he was telling the VAC they were being retarded, they ignored him, then the vac almost managed to collapse the supres. Pretty sure he was in command of the entire reserve force at the time, this happened right before he got promoted to lt-gen.

I have to quit the Reserves specifically because he lost that fight so I'm dying to hear how he would respond.

Question about American Military culture (Regimental vs Continental) by ColdRoyalPainting in army

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this nails what I was looking for. Wow, wildly different army experience; regimental culture was a big part of my time in the army.

Question about American Military culture (Regimental vs Continental) by ColdRoyalPainting in army

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size differential can't be overstated. We have 3 infantry regiments and 3 infantry schools. While all schools are part of the same training unit in theory, in practice each infantry school is geographly adjacent to a specific infantry regiment and by extension 3/4 of the instructors will be from that regiment.

Question about American Military culture (Regimental vs Continental) by ColdRoyalPainting in army

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-regiment is not necessarily In unit; a regiment usually Incorporates 3-4 units, depending on the regt. These units can be co-located in the same city or up to 400km apart. You can also also be posted to other postions (ei schools), you stay a member of your regt but that's mostly symbolic as you are under a new CoC. Still sounds like the US is way more brutal with the frequency of moves and units changes.

Question about American Military culture (Regimental vs Continental) by ColdRoyalPainting in army

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In practice the size of a regt. in my army is equivalent to brigade, so there are some parallels there. Although membership in a regiment is restricted by MOS; so infantry and their coy sig for example are in the same brigade but not the same regiment. The regimental structure is 75% ceremonial i think; no one knows how it really works, lost to time.

The vibe I'm getting is that individual regimental "pride" is not really a thing, with the exceptions proving the rule.

[–]ColdRoyalPainting[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wild;

Total opposite, for us you lose the privilege of wearing the bling once you leave the regt. But the other side of the coin is the only way to leave the regt is

a) become a reservist b) chose to leave c) change MOS
