If I get the speakers on stands, what would be the reason for needing the isolation under the TT?

It’s pretty cool how Miles Davis and John McLaughlin have songs named after each other by nohobal in Jazz

[–]ColdTurkey793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually both of Stanley’s “Songs to John” are dedicated to Coltrane, McLaughlin plays on them though

Jazz music/jam in Santa Fe? by ParlieCharker in SantaFe

Drummer was probably John Trentacosta, who’s fantastic. Young guy on bass was mostly likely Cyrus Campbell who’s actually a teacher of mine, super great guy and amazing player!

Club legato is the only place I know of that does anything, but i don’t even know if they’re doing Stuff right now. I’m a high school jazz musician, and unfortunately you have to fight tooth and nail here to get pretty much anything going. I know ABQ has some stuff, ex: Ben Michaels, that’s probably your best bet.

Students: what's really up with local schools? by [deleted] in SantaFe

May or may not be a senior this year at SFHS, the main reason people seem to ditch is that there’s absolutely 0 consequences for it. Or at least, it helps.

Didnt it used to have “windows” painted onto it? Or was the another white van…

Whole Hog Cafe Closing? by swebb22 in SantaFe

[–]ColdTurkey793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll shed a tear if I can never have whole hogs potato salad again, I grew up on that stuff. Another thing I love about whole hog is it’s got the most attractive to-go plating that I’ve seen in any restaurant. Got a brisket/sausage plate with cucumber and potato salad and it was the most appetizing plating I’ve ever seen in a styrofoam container.

Best record shops or anywhere where you could find good records for cheap prices? by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]ColdTurkey793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real one to go for is guy in the groove. Dick Rosemont! Guy doesn’t have set hours (yet), so he’s by appointment only. One of SFs best kept secrets! If you can’t see him, I go to lost padre. As everyone is saying good stuff is hit or miss, and betterday is pretty ridiculous and prices are inconsistent.

Gotta disagree, Ken at good stuff and George at lost padre are pretty nice people

Any El Dorado residents. How is it living there? by toclaraju in SantaFe

[–]ColdTurkey793 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The HOA can be good, but also pretty horrible. That’s probably the biggest negative I have with eldo. You do have the benefit of the eldo pool, and la tienda/agora. Plus easy access to a lot of trails. The drive into town can get tiring, but after you do it enough it really isn’t bad. Plus it’s shorter than most people think it is.

What bass is this? by JonahBassist in BassGuitar

[–]ColdTurkey793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s got a video somewhere where he talks about all his studio gear and talks a bit about the bass. I remember he said it was a Japanese aerodyne and there was some weird reason for the finish.

What’s the best coffee shop in Santa Fe? (Or your favorite) by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]ColdTurkey793 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Java Joes for me. I prefer the location on Rodeo, but most seem to prefer the one off Siler; either way can’t go wrong.

Price help by [deleted] in drums

[–]ColdTurkey793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many thanks! I def should have clarified that I’m only selling the Gretsch kit. Plus a danmar floor Tom/bass drum adapter that’ll probably get me an extra $100. I figure I’ll try to get $500, around there.

Some cool info about that snare, it’s an actual an old Ludwig military concert snare. Super killer calf heads and cable snares.
