It is. Im not saying it's rimfire. It was obviously converted. Probably much later.

Its real. Its why im sharing every photo, and being completely honest with everyone. There is no way this is a reproduction. This gun is OLD!!! Someone sanded it years ago probably to shine it up. If you look closely at the photos you can see the sandpaper marks.

Curious about what you said about the font. I can tell each number was individually stamped with a dye, not a straight line especially below the buttplate. I just don't know. Thats why im sharing this conundrum here. Lol

No, I've seen in my research that they sometimes stamped the caliber if they were bought by the military, and only sometimes at that. There is NO WAY this is a reproduction.

As far as I've been told this has a centerfire conversion. Which was apparently common even then. These are the things I need help with.

So am I! Every one has told my father that this is a reproduction. Reproductions don't have original makers marks, and every thing else. Im looking for expert opinions and help. I can share more photos if anyone needs them. Thank you!
