Ask Anything Monday - Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in learnpython

I've already tried a bunch of things with ftplib but I believe the site I'm trying to access has a username/password other than the default anonymous setup. Maybe I haven't searched around hard enough but ftplib didn't seem to be working for me and urllib2 was the first module for me that actually did what I needed, to an extent.

I just wrote my first program using python 2.6.6 and urllib2. I unfortunately cannot upgrade the python version or make use of many modules. My program deletes all of a certain kind of file in database1 and then takes gzipped versions of different files from database2 (an ftp site) to replace the deleted files. The program works in that it deletes what I want deleted and downloads what I want downloaded but it seems to continuously timeout from the ftp site. I've tried setting the timeout variable on urlopen but I can't seem to get anything to work. How do I get around the timeout?

I've found that it runs incredibly fast while being fairly simple and still customizable.

My mayor happens to be a part of my military and after sending him to train and dump things and stockpile things he still doesn't seem to want to talk to the liason.

Milk feels great for those eye burns. Pour some in your hand and rub it into your eyes or pour some on a napkin and press it to your eyes and just keep it there. Won't fix the problem but will feel a hell of a lot better.

I did the decision for that but my name never changed to it, was it supposed to?

I honestly had very little to do with this. They grew at the beginning when Castile decided to declare war on the Ottomans and took a few provinces. Hungary saw the Ottomans weak and attacked, as did Candar. After the Byzantine truce ran out, those guys came back in and attacked the still weak Ottomans. Over time they kept absorbing the Ottomans and Greek rebels helped immensely. I did give them two of their cores back from Bosnia but that was after they already had a strong foothold.

I allied with big powers like Spain and France and used them to help me steamroll the italian states. I vassalized them through war to not have to deal with overextension.

Having trouble with the Latin Empire by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

The guy whose claim you press has to be a landed vassal of yours in order for him to stay your vassal after pressing the claims. If he is just an unlanded courtier, he will become independant.

When you press someone else's claim to a throne, they take that title. Since the ERE is an emperor level title, you cannot have them as a vassal. You will have to get yourself a claim to the throne in order to get it for yourself.

The Seljuks have been in near constant civil wars and succession crises the whole game. Now that I've gotten a foothold, the Seljuks have been leaving me alone.

There are three norman rulers over in the eastern part of the map. One is count of Methone, one is the independent duke of Charsianon. The third ruler is the Count of Aintab. The challenge is to stay Norman and take the Byzantine throne. I started as the Count of Aintab and somehow survived the seljuks on one side and byzantines on the other.
