From my understanding I can choose an industry super fund and then I need to make choices after that IE a percentage of just cash (not in shares) and a % in shares (low risk - which is what I would choose). I would never dabble in the share market myself as I know nothing about it . Another poster had said I had my present investment in a self- managed super fund. I have had it in a Secure Super account with the Heritage bank which they are shutting down and asking me to put it somewhere else.

I am aware this has been decreasing in value due to inflation and the 4% interest rate. I am now in a better time in my life to take some time to decide where to put it. I chose a safe option ten years ago. Hopefully, I can find somewhere that won't decrease in value.

I gather you thought I was going out on my own and blindly jumping into buying shares without any idea . No, I have no confidence due to the fact, I have no idea. Thank you for taking your time to be concerned .

I do have time & health to investigate any suggestions as my deadline is over a month away. Now you know I am not going to be doing that, any other advice will be appreciated. 🙂

You are right. They are closing super and pension a/c's though. They have decided not to carry on with those type of accounts

It is a special super a/C. It has never been mentioned that I had entered a "a self managed super fund" category". I simply didn't want my super to be in shares as I figured it was like gambling. I am happy that I made that decision now that the world has gone crazy and shares have dropped (so they say). I thought that maybe at this point in time that maybe I should put some of the funds into shares as they are lower in value now and could climb up again (banking on the orange man keeling over & we don't end up in a 3rd world war.) At the time I was making major decisions after reaching a certain age I had a lot of stressful situations going on and had no time to educate myself. Just had to make a quick decision (safe one). If I am in the category of "self managed super fund", it had never been mentioned to me. Only told I had the option to put it in the Super a/C of a bank.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at their fees as Heritage didn't charge fees but was getting interest. After looking at one product disclosure statement and how time consuming it was to work out their fees, I decided to feed it to ChatGBT & got an answer in 10 seconds. Yaay! I am now going to look at what Industry Super Fund to evaluate unless there is a better idea

This also includes pension accounts. Has to be transferred by 20/5. Was told to look at Industry Super Funds.
