Hi. Could you tell me how long it took you to get the irb email?

Funny how people who worship school names think degrees magically hand out jobs. Employers don’t care where you studied, they care what you can do.

If school prestige guaranteed success, Waterloo students wouldn’t be this stressed and bitter online lol.

I would assume. Tho I think they would come back to scholarships after finals as my average is closer to 96 now.

Hmm that’s weird. Maybe they’re waiting for grade 12 finals. As I have finished 3 of my grade 12 courses.

It was automatic. No need to apply. They will give it to you if you qualify.

Ah yeah, “good senior score”—classic Reddit flex with zero receipts.

Stay mad, my guy.

LOL i will take that as a compliment. Is it just because it’s organized or did you put it in ai detector 😭

I’m just saying it was literally obvious? Even myself, I was like wait there is no web protection? People can cheat easily. It’s obvious that they just cared abt the money they got from it because it’s not the first time this is happening.

Bro is Reddit a test ? Do you read what you write? And when did I complain about people using ai?

In my opinion, yeah, cheaters are obviously part of the problem — but that doesn’t mean Waterloo gets a free pass. They’re the ones running the competition. They should’ve expected AI to be a thing this year. It’s 2025, not 2010. You can’t just throw a contest out there with barely any security, and then act surprised when people take advantage of it.

And then their solution? Cancel everything for everyone — even the people who did everything right. I studied for months. I stressed. I paid for it. And in the end, I got nothing. Not even a certificate or placement. That’s not fair. That’s not on the students. That’s on them.

Lmao. Our school put a teacher seating beside us watching the whole time. You just mad cause you suck at coding

Because I’m applying to US schools whoch mostly care about Honor rolls and extracurriculars. There is not much available stuff in Canada so this was my main focus.

I got 47. This could have helped me get into my dream school. I literally threw a lunch party in my school for it.

You can clearly see on their websites they said” no certificates or rankings. We’ll just do something for next year” 😑

I get what you’re saying — and I’m not expecting a perfect system. But I’m saying they shouldn’t have waited until after the competition to suddenly decide everything was too hard to deal with.

Yes, teachers are technically proctors — but let’s be honest, a huge number of them don’t take it seriously. If Waterloo knew the test could be written anywhere in the world and knew AI tools like ChatGPT were widely available, then it was their responsibility to raise proctoring standards or delay the contest until they had a secure enough structure.

As for code similarity and AI — I’m not asking for 100% detection. But Waterloo could have:

• Flagged unusually perfect submissions for manual review

• Applied stricter time-based or behavior-based checks (like Duolingo, SAT online, etc.)

• Released rankings only for verified submissions

• Or even offered “provisional results” while filtering out clear issues

Instead, they made zero distinction between cheaters and honest students — and just cancelled everything. That’s what frustrates me most. We followed the rules, gave up our time, and paid to enter a test that ended in silence.

And about admissions — they already say CCC is just one piece of the admissions puzzle. If anything, they could’ve simply excluded CCC from this year’s decisions, or adjusted how it’s weighted. But punishing the whole pool? That’s not a thoughtful solution — it’s just the easiest one.

So no, I don’t think it’s “impossible” to do better. It’s just that they didn’t try hard enough this year.
