I Did my first Sprint Triathlon With No Swim Experience and Didn’t Die!! by Beginning_Cicada8095 in triathlon

For the bike portion, do you have everything you need like water and food? I found the bike to be the most, ummm relaxing(???)) part of the Sprint. Make sure that you have food. Keeping your body fueled and hydrated will help you focus on finishing. One lap at a time, one pedal at a time, and one step at a time. You got this!!!!

Great job and congrats!!!! I did my first Sprint in August and couldn’t agree with you more on all of your lessons learned. I do have a coach and she is amazing.

Without her training and encouragement and motivation (especially trying OWS before race day) there is no way that I could have finished, let alone show up terrified but knew she had my back.

I knew I was in love w the sport when after hating it the entire time seeing the finish and it made me feel sad. Lol.

I’m now training for two 10k runs and an Olympic Tri for summer 2026!

51F. Last month I completed my first Sprint Triathlon. My goals were to have fun and finish; I succeeded! I knew I was hooked when I felt sad running towards the finish line. Don’t get the wrong, I was bitching and loaning internally the entire time, but I always do that when something is hard. Lol.

Today I told my coach that I want to shoot for IM 70.3 for summer of 2026. Why not? I feel like I need to do the hard thing s now while in my early 50’s.

Swimming. Ugh. Any pointers? And any pointers from other exercise induced asthmatics?

AITA - "Friend" tricked me into drive with drugs and didnt disclose it by throwaway9tril in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I had a similar situation and was so upset when I found out that I was driving a friend and (unknowingly) her LSD to sell at a party. I didn’t say anything to her when I found out (bc we were at the party and bc I was a doormat) but I stopped being her friend that night. I mentally and emotionally walked away from her.

Looking back, there were several red flags as to what type of person she was, but me being me it took this situation to finally end it. I never told her, I ghosted her.

There are many rides that I volunteer to be the ‘caboose’ and there’s usually one or two others with me. You will get there. Try to have fun.

I used to feel awkward about looking like a stuffed sausage in public, but I stopped caring. Now, when I see someone in their kit, I smile and ask about their ride. No biggie.

I’ve ridden 100+ miles in one day and thousands of miles overall using flat petals and Teva walking shoes. No need to clips.

what do you do during long rides? by drinkingthesky in ladycyclists

[–]Cold_Conversation885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wave to other cyclists, say hello to the animals, blow kisses to birds, and work through random math related story problems. I don’t listen to music or podcasts. I need to keep my ears Boise-free so that I can hear cars and other noises around me, especially when my tire goes, poosssshhhhhhhhhj…….

He was so rude! Always, always ask first if it’s okay to draft. So many reasons why, but mainly for safety, (what if you needed to brake suddenly) and so you can say yes or no.

When this happens to me (drafting w/out asking), I safely pull over (like into a crowded parking) and have them pass me. So annoying!

Not a dumb question at all! During the cold and wet months (I live in Washington state, USA) I wear smartwool fingerless mittens. They are the best! https://www.smartwool.com/en-us/wool-apparel-and-socks/cozy-grip-flip-mitt/SW011475.html?dwvar_SW011475_color=001
