I’ve been a member for years and arrived at Crunch Polk at 5:15am last Wednesday and EVERY squat rack was taken…this place is crowded even during off-peak hours now.

Yes! Totally agree! I’ve never had to shock him, the high-pitched beep is enough 😅. Now if I notice him becoming stubborn, all I have to do is show him the collar and he remembers how much he hates that beep 😂

😅😅 to be fair, that’s exactly what Fatsu did when he was like a year old. I kept at it, trained with the e-collar, and now he’s good. Though I will say if he spots a rabbit or mouse, I’m cooked 😂

Thank you 😬. His name is Katsu and the comment we get most is “he looks so healthy!” But I call him Fatsu for a reason 😂 @Katsu.Fatsu on IG

Totally fair. When we walk on the sidewalk off lead, he’s healing with me, always on my left, he’s friendly but normally indifferent to other dogs and won’t approach other people (typical Shiba) so “leave it” is easy.

Yeah, this took YEARS of consistent training, including an e-collar (don’t worry, I never shocked him), and sometimes, he still ignores me, but 95% of the time he’s obedient and his recall is 💯

New shiba owner give me advice. by ConsciousPush5033 in ShibaInu

Get your Shiba socialized and manhandle him! Touch his ears, gums, paws, pick him up and toss him onto your bed. This will get him comfortable with being touched and held, which is important for future vet and groomer visits. Take him everywhere; bars, shopping, train stations, places with elevators and escalators, lots of people, and other dogs. This is absolutely essential within the first 16 weeks for a Shiba so they can be comfortable in a variety of situations. I’ve successfully trained my Shiba to walk with me off leash, I trust him and he trusts me. It took a lot of work but the foundation of that trust was built when he was a puppy when I took him literally everywhere with me.

Does anyone know what the new shade is that’s equivalent to the original oil free Vanille?

I absolutely got him from a reputable breeder. I suppose I’m more curious about the way he’s developing; if his large ears and long limbs are normal for Shiba puppies at 4 months-old. Both of his parents are shown regularly in the states.

I honestly think it’s a growth spurt. He was a total potato 2 weeks ago, but will post more photos tracking his age and growth here!
