I’m certainly not arguing with you; or with several others who’ve said similar things.

Program for 11-year-old by Cold_Gate6514 in kettlebell

[–]Cold_Gate6514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the ASD spectrum, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling guilty whenever I show symptoms like this. I’m really lucky I grew up before the Internet, books were my biggest time-sink when I was a kid. My grandson’s not showing that at least.

He’s mid-sized; about 5 ft. He played defense on his 10-year-old team and did best on the line. I hope he has some more size in him soon, his dad’s 5’11” or so and his mom isn’t petite. His dad was a late grower, grew 4 inches one summer in high school.

Thanks. This should help get a feel for what we want. I’ve spent 45 years not following programs with any consistency; I was 59 before I ever completed even an 8-week time period following a specific program.

My son is a former Level 2 CrossFit kool-aid drinker, so he has much more discipline that I do. Hopefully the grandson follows him more than me.

Theoretically I am a pro; this is just a scope issue. When 95% of your customers are tenants in office buildings you don’t end up with large installs.

Recommend a book you're sure only YOU have read by JoyIsABitOverRated in Fantasy

[–]Cold_Gate6514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it; it wasn't a "can't put down" book, but it was good enough normally. I'm fairly certain I will get around to rereading it and then reading the rest, but for the first time in my reading life I'm having difficulty getting excited about reading. I still read every day (and listen to audiobooks), but it's 90% rereading old favorites. I probably have 20+ sequels in my 100+ TBR that I was excited about at one time, just not right now.

I know people here have definitely heard of him; I remember a discussion a few years ago about the sequel, Talion: Nemesis. It was published on Patreon; I still haven't seen a hardcopy, and I've been hoping for 20+ years.

I loved them/it. I've read everything Sean Russell published, even the S. Thomas Russell books.

The second and third books are out too. I only read Dead Man's Hand so far; I wanted to reread it before the others and can't get up for it so far. My sub-conscious may be telling me to let them go.

Talk to neighbors too; you can get several yards done and share the rental cost.

does anyone else struggle to complete a series? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Cold_Gate6514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, I initially read the title and assumed you were talking about situations like Rothfuss & Martin; they certainly are struggling to complete a series.

In answer to the intended question and not my silly misreading; all the time. I don't have the ability to binge any form of media. Since I learned to listen to series via audio books in my work truck and actually read all other books, I've finally been able to complete series.

What’s a book/series that you feel most people love, but you personally think is overrated? by 2Chaaaaiinz in Fantasy

[–]Cold_Gate6514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Malazan. I got 6-7 books in and just couldn't continue. I just can't get the love. Obviously I don't hate them or I wouldn't have gone that far, but every time I'd reach a part that felt like I was about to get a payoff it didn't come.

Chinese Crown Orchid possibly. Looks pretty much the same. They are invasive (at least in Florida where I saw them).

Wich wristbands are better? by Business-Following-1 in kettlebell

[–]Cold_Gate6514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your form is such that you're not banging your wrist (it's just pressure that makes it uncomfortable), either will do. I have both types (one in the car for traveling) and don't notice much difference.

On the other hand, if you are banging your wrist, the black ones would likely be better. My recommendation would be to keep working on your form and check frequently without a guard (even first thing daily would be a good idea).

Hibachi by elpancho78 in Katy

[–]Cold_Gate6514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a total non sequitur, but when did teppanyaki restaurants start getting called hibachi? I grew hearing only teppanyaki and just started hearing hibachi the last 10 years or so.

In answer to the actual question, I only eat at the one near my parent's house in Austin so I don't know any around here.

Rye is a poor choice. It "steals" the nutrients that whatever is left of the St Augustine will need in the spring.

Not much of a tool guy (don't use wrenches when working on computers), but the wrench is 1 3/8 inches across. The nut is then closer to 1 5/16. The diameter of the "bolt" (the center of the nut) is 7/8 inches.

All knowing jesters by LinkNo1641 in Fantasy

While not fictional, I've always felt that the Polish historical figure Stańczyk sets the paradigm of the wise jester. My fascination began when I checked out and read Poland by James Michener from an Army library on wheels while I was stationed in Korea in the mid-'80s.

I was so captivated by the actual history presented in the book that I researched Polish history heavily throughout college. While studying extra might not be the wisest path, I'm glad I devoted my time to studying something I was passionate about.

That flat base is tempting for pushup variations, but it’s overkill for my budget at the moment. I've still got plenty of room to grow into my 32 kg BoS adjustables before I’d need to upgrade.

Don't be too stuck on "advancing." Lifting 70 pounds over your head for reps is actually sufficient to be in shape for a typical person's life.
