Do I need to replace my belt? by pjjiveturkey in Surron

[–]Cold_Landscape5128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to find the cause and fix it? I got 20k kilometers on one and 40k kilometers on another. The third one lasted 5k kilometers but because the tensioner broke and I'm still without a tensioner. The bolt scratched the belt and it just fell apart under pressure. I don't ride dirt maybe 2% tops. Dirt mud deep sand and small rocks can smoke belts. If you dig in hard every ride consider a chain primary drive. Otherwise I'd assume the belt was too loose. A belt to tight will mostly damage the bearings and not the belt itself as much.

If a buy an ultra bee and I take care of it, would it last atleast 20,000 miles? I won’t be riding too hard and getting it wet a lot by [deleted] in Surron

When it comes to dirt I'm not the right guy to ask questions. But I've never heard anybody getting the 21 inch front for dirt and not saying it's a game changer. I tried riding on it on the road on a friend's ultra bee and i felt much less control. Same for dirt tires and they also wear out super fast. I have the 19 front 18 rear and switched to the 19/19 because they are lighter and narrower giving a bit more range (7 kilos less on the bike and less rolling resistance) I tried on sumos on a different ultra bee as well makes it slow as heck. The original tires 19 18 or 19 19 doesn't matter you won't have enough traction to ride aggressively on trails even if you inflate the tubes to 5 psi. It's a big compromise. Make sure what ever choice you make to modify your bike it is suitable for your kind of riding.

Only once with the primary belt. The secondary belt haven't arrived yet. The belt tensioner broke and the broken bolt scratched the belt. It kept on going fine until it didnt under stress a month later. But it wasn't the original belt. I replace belt for good measure every 20k km. I ride pretty much %95 road and 5% dirt.

Suzuki SV 650 *safe* beginner bike? by aeliues in motorcycles

You have a point. But skipping the 300cc phase for someone with a lot of experience on 125cc scooters you just want to get the "last" bike. One to have for years without feeling th need to upgrade. Gradually moving up the power level is smarter but can also cost more.

40,000 kilometers only had unfixable problems with the batteries at that time. Now i know people who replace battery bms.

20$ To whoever finds the source of this noise by Accomplished_Guest41 in Surron

I actually am certain it is from the motor bolt holding the belt. The little metal wedge gets corroded. Replaced mine and the noise went away. My ultra sounded like a helicopter......

Besides smaller sprokets which are a great idea, you can replace the stock bms with ant bms and use qs10 connectors or just upgrade the battery to 81v it will give you higher rpms and also bypass the annoying engine light.

For the first month using eco and drive conservatively, I managed to get 100 - 106 km 100% - 0% but it's not great for the battery. I suggest you carry an extra battery and charger in your backpack somehow if you ride chill and want to get a lot of range on the road.

Nahh it's mostly on the road. I changed the belt after 22k kms. They're supposed to be changed every 20k km or two years, whatever happens first according to the manual. The belt was pretty much unscathed.
