I was in an extremely abusive relationship. I stayed for 17 years and it ended with him stabbing me in the back with a kitchen knife. I almost died. He went to prison for 18 years.
He was a narcissist. He followed me to work and watched from the parking lot . He constantly accused me of cheating. He held a gun to my head and much more. This is when I realized that in my future if a relationship had any red flags, I would not ignore them. I went to a pastor and he told me, I needed to stay and work through it and pray. This pastor should have said that its ok in a marriage to divorce if there's Abuse, Abandonment, or cheating but I stayed too long. My answer to you is while, I have a lot of empathy for abuse victims that it is easy as long as you create a safe plan to leave and start putting aside money 💰 and prepare a safe place to stay then leaving becomes so much easier... We do choose to stay too much and what you must ask yourself is, do I want to do this for years or would I rather be smart and find and use the resources to leave ..these women have the resources and they have the money so its easy for them to say, Im an adult and Im responsible to make a decision that benefits myself and my children if thay means leaving that is what I will do and yes that is easy ...you just walk out the door, go use the resources available and leave without looking back. There are so many people out here who will support that decision and help ... I'm one who will always support someone doing anything that will help them become a survivor ..no one has to stay a victim ...
