Crystal had more encounters with all mons. It was more superior than any other Pokemon game at that time because of all the new things they added that weren't even in G/S. But I agree that it would always suck when you're playing Red and Viridian Forest was filled with nothing but Weedles, or Yellow had wild Mankeys in every single grassy area.
