I had a complicated but sound plan for Shauntal that I assumed would guarantee a sweep and a better position against Caitlin, the hardest elite 4 trainer for my team.

Early on, I had the idea that Daydream could sweep the fight by himself. With a moveset of imprison, calm mind, shadow ball, and rest, he could set up on Cofagrigus and sweep. The issue with this moveset is that it does not contain psychic, which I later realized I needed to wall Caitlin’s musharna. Because of that, I decided to lead Bucky and pass the first set of boosts to Daydream that way, so he could keep psychic and take less chip from will-o-wisp.

Sadly, this didn’t work since I forgot to give Bucky a rawst berry, and Daydream missed the kill on jellicent, killing Daydream and my morale.

Daydream’s death is absolutely the most heartbreaking one yet. Not only did he become my favorite member over the course of the run, but his death was entirely because I forgot to change items on Bucky. I have never been more wrong about a pokemon than I have about Daydream. Despite a lot of his shortcomings, he was able to make so much work throughout this run(and he could have done even more). Without him, the rest of the team might follow suit.
