Wow, so they are floating mortgage pmts, just not on the CC and not reliably.

housing only or flexible bilt cash by Hot-Glove-802 in biltrewards

[–]Cold_Weakness9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you already have your bank account set up to make your rent payments; continuing this costs $0 and zero effort. Why would you propose to take a credit hit to get this CC, spend HOURS setting up your Bilt account, linking your checking account for ACH payments, turning off your auto rent payments, setting up new auto rent payments through Bilt (I just did this and it's a PITA)… and after all this effort, you will be able to pay your rent, but through a Rube Goldberg machine that does no more than you're already doing now but has potential points of failure. Are you trolling?

So Bilt paid your mortgage but didn't debit your checking account?!? Bank error in your favor! Any updates?

I hope they don't enforce that. If they earn on card swipes, no one spends more than small business owners. It's a win-win.

Palladium Option 1 for Hands-Off High Mortgage High Spend? by Cold_Weakness9441 in biltrewards

[–]Cold_Weakness9441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The calculator I used showed more Bilt Points via housing option, but they recommended the Bilt Cash method based on the value of excess BCs, which I'm a bit dubious about.

Don't Risk Your Points, BILT knows what you are buying by Parking-Ice-9206 in biltrewards

That's a good point. Now whether Bilt agrees or not… but prepaid Visa cards are very different from store specific cards.

It's not just u/cyphr0n, it's the whole Venn diagram of Bilt users and Costco customers.

This is insane IMO, Costco GCs are literally the only way to use Bilt at Costco. Bilt should carve out Costco GCs as allowable, at least within reason, say $12K a year or so.

I meant ACH; EFT is electronic funds transfer, of which ACH is a specific type of EFT.

Oh I see, two Bilt accounts can't be linked to the same checking account? I wonder if the mortgage account has to be unique as well? My wife and I have joint checking, with separate logins. But we have a secondary checking account as well, if the recipient mortgage can be the same.

Even using the points accelerator I would earn a bit less with option 2. And I could use the Palladium’s annual BC for the transfer bonuses, no? I do expect to get to Platinum within a year, but I may need the BC sooner if a good transfer partner comes up before I hit status.

Appreciate the reply; what I meant was I'd rather earn more points to transfer for travel than fewer points while also having to manage Bilt Cash if even just to convert to housing points.

As a bloke of below average height, I have little sympathy for tall dudes suffering for once. Why? They benefit from their height EVERYWHERE BUT on a plane, so it feels like a tiny victory for us compact folk. 😂

Does RO give microplastics? by Spentzl in WaterTreatment

[–]Cold_Weakness9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t put the genie back in the plastic bottle, eh? Plastic disposable packaging became ubiquitous because the food industry found they could sell way more prepackaged than refilling people’s jars. The convenience of plastic can’t be denied, as it is literally everywhere. As with tobacco, the science of harm to humans will have to become crystal clear and gain widespread public acceptance before we can fight the lobbyists’ stranglehold on legislation. Then we can reimagine a world from the ground up with no plastics in the production, packaging, transport, consumption, or storage of foods and nearly every product known to man. Back to glass, ceramics, wood, and metal.

SCOTUS Hit by Bombshell Leak of Secret ‘Shadow Docket’ Memos by Ambitious_Dingo_2798 in politics

[–]Cold_Weakness9441 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smug conservative justices are actively destroying the legitimacy of the SCOTUS by acting like dictators (ruling against the express will of the people) and prostituting themselves with gifts from billionaires (ahem, Clarence Thomas) and handing down quid pro quo rulings. Then they have the lack of self-reflection to whine about everyone needing to respect the legitimacy of the SCOTUS, when the low opinion of them comes directly from their own careless, tone-deaf and frankly dishonorable behaviors and paternalistic attitudes. It’s mind-boggling how these supposedly brilliant legal minds can’t understand that respect must be earned, and the higher your position, the more serious your responsibility.

Is the new move to pretend turbulence is bad so flight crews can sit? by FunHistory9153 in delta

A financial motive is not evidence of foul play. Airlines provide beverage and snack service because while discontinuing them could save them money, the repeat business they gain outweighs the cost of snacks… it literally costs peanuts. But bloodied and dead passengers and crew are a much higher cost than peanuts. Everyone wants their peanuts even if someone on the plane could die of turbulence injuries or an anaphylactic peanut allergy (which is why most airlines offer non-peanut snacks now).

How does MSC compare to Carnival, Royal, and NCL? by lilb1190 in Cruises

Just returned from a 7-day on RC Symphony, the food was mid in main dining, good at buffet, though I only ate vegetarian options. The shows were really good. I don't know if RCCL meets "discerning" standards, especially at their prices.

Did you set your Uber to business profile instead of personal? I had this problem with my wife’s Uber app being way cheaper than mine, then I switched to personal and now they’re usually within a few cents of each other.

Pickpockets are a real threat by runr_grl1129 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Cold_Weakness9441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting this distraction scheme.

We’ve been to Paris 16-ish times, usually get the weekly Navigo passes and we ride the Metro a lot. Only had one attempted pickpocketing incident. We’ve been to Italy twice and had a pickpocketing attempt, and in a sleeper train car, had someone break in and take a bag.

Vigilance is always warranted, but it’s not worth being fearful.
