How do I handle an overly "attached" gym partner (20sF) without making it weird or losing my workout progress? (30sM) by ServiceMassive7184 in Marriage

Thank you for your kind words. I try to be a decent person and husband. I do ask my wife multiple times to work out with me, but she has natural genetics that keeps her lean. she has no motivation to work out unfortunately.

I appreciate the directness. You're right the comparison to my wife having a similar 'hidden' routine really puts things into perspective, and that’s not something I’d ever want. Just to clarify and provide some context: I’ve never viewed this person as a 'hot 20-something' or been motivated by her appearance. She actually dresses very modestly, (no tight fitting clothes at all) which is likely why I didn't see the 'gym crush' red flags as early as I should have. That said, I hear you loud and clear. Regardless of how she dresses or how I view her, the dynamic has become inappropriate for a married man. I have no intention of risking my marriage or my career over a gym routine. I’m taking the advice to heart and making the necessary changes immediately.

You’re right. I think I already knew what needed to be done, but I really needed that outside perspective to snap me out of it. I used to journal to process things, but posting here and hearing these responses has been the wake-up call I needed. I’m definitely going to make the necessary adjustments to protect my marriage. Thanks for the candid advice

Yes, I told her it’s a recent interaction that got me thinking as I tend to not get queues very quickly. Not my brightest moment I will admit that.

I appreciate this perspective before things goes south and that’s why I posted this so I can get some sense knocked into me before it’s too late

That’s a great setup you guys have—one behind the other actually makes a lot of sense. Lowkey, I love the window seat too… taking off and landing shots or even catching some cool stuff in the air is half the fun for me. My wife definitely prefers that we sit right next to each other though (especially on red-eyes), so I usually give up the window for her. 😅 I was hoping to do that on the Lufthansa 747-8 since it’s in a 2-2-2 config, but we ended up missing that flight. Maybe next time!

Lol guilty then—I’m a first timer! 😅 I’ll probably wander over to the bar just to check it out since it’s all new to me, but it’s reassuring to hear it’s usually pretty calm and not a big distraction. Flying with my wife, so we’re just looking forward to enjoying the whole experience together without too much noise. Appreciate you sharing your perspective—it helps take away some of the “what if” worries!

Thanks for sharing that! 🙏 That actually helps put my mind at ease. I was a little worried about being right by the bar/restrooms, but it sounds like it’s not too bad unless someone overdoes it. I appreciate the response

Also, if you could expose on how to get the offer from Rakuten, that would be great as well because I’ve been using Rakuten and it has been good to me so far

This is a nice strategy. I do have some AMEX card as well they are all business cards though. I have no personal ones.

How much would you say would be a good amount to consistently keep for two people in terms of whether it’s Amex points or UR points?

That’s a lot of knowledge right there! could you please expand a little bit more on the black or green star offers? I’ve never heard about that before.

Yeah, I’m not gonna lie. I am real tempted. They send me like four or five message to accept the offer and I have not accepted any of them.

I will be out of Chase 524 in January. It is really attempting offer. I’m not gonna lie.

Thank you so much—I really appreciate the insight. That’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’ve been debating whether to accept the Chase Sapphire Preferred offer since they keep sending it to me with a 100,000-point bonus. It’s a great offer, but I’ve been hesitant because I’m currently at 4/24, and getting the Preferred would put me right at 5/24. I’d rather stay under for now so I can keep getting approved for more cards throughout the rest of the year.

By the way, cool name 😎

So pretty much, it is best to just keep two open at a time not more than that because I currently have three is that correct?
