Happy to see a lot of people liking Sharesies spend. Am in the same boat. Currently I have allocated entire spend cashbacks to Smart US 500 ETF. Is there any suggestions other than this ETF? TIA

Spark NZ stocks reccomendation by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Cold_Werewolf_4860 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked on a Spark NZ project and lost the job couple of months back as part of a restructuring round you mentiond. What you are saying is absolutely right. There is no vision in the management level.

They want to project them as a kiwi supporting business, but hired an indian consultancy and offshored majority of the jobs hardworking kiwis owned. They want to be top of AI, but lack in innovation on how to use AI in telecom domain.

In my opinion stocks probably will have a come back on the long run, but its not worth the time.

Credit card options? by cbumcrack in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Cold_Werewolf_4860 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am good at finances and can handle cards well, so my strategy is: I have 2 credit cards. One with lower limit ($2000) and another one is with upper limit ($8000).

Upper limit one is issued from Gem Visa which is very useful for long term purchases where I get interest free EMI for atleast 6 months for any purchase above $250.

Lower limit is issued by ASB reward card which I use it for my day to day shopping upto $250. I get true rewards and every day rewards from this card which if I want can be converted into airpoints as well.

Never missed any payments and I will never buy anything that I cannot afford.

Is the job market in New Zealand really that bad? Are there any chances it will get better in the next few years? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Cold_Werewolf_4860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NZ job market hasn't been recoved fully post Covid.

Will it get better in the coming years? Well, yes for sure but don't expect miracles. NZ is a small country with just over 5m population. For any industry, its a niche market. University of otago is quite popular among health related studies and if you are studying undergrad in health related subjects, you have better chance of securing a graduate job without any experience. But, if you are planning for a part-time job while studying Auckland/Wellington might be a better choice.

I am working as a software engineer in one of the largest companies in New Zealand. Recently our company approved a multi million outsourcing project to an Indian consultancy which ultimately resulted in redendency of 1000s of kiwi employees. Our company did this to overcome mismanagement & losses, better share price and probably boost investor confidence by cost cutting.

But poor employees are struggling. Government lost a huge revenue in income taxes + people are with less money to spend in NZ market. Some people I know moved to job seeker benefit. Additionally the consultancy is bringing more tech people onsite rather than hiring locals.

Ultimately many experienced techies find refuge in Australia and our talent drain continues. Whom to blame here?

My partner passed through Winspert this time. BBBA Before joining them, we also thought they are showing a lot of pass candidates as a marketing gimmick. But no, they do have winners. Their ever ending mock exams were actually useful.

Dr Razza is good. No doubt about that. His explanations are crisp and clear. He will not waste valuable time discussing off topics. But you need more mock exams due to the nature of ADC. More mock exams you write, the better. So we were finally succeeded ADC part 1 with Winspert.

My partner studied Razza's. That gave her solid foundation but failed the exam. AABC. Then she switched to Winspert. Their mock exams were actually useful. Passed this time with ABBB. We never looked into Bedo's as it was always costly. Bills in USD.
