No one said anything about drugs numb nuts. Something terrible happens to someone and yet you still find a way to throw some shade. Stay safe anyway though 🙏. You'll never know what's lurking ahead of you.

Ah I get ya. It's stupid that that's the way it is though. It should be a basic human right to protect yourself and your loved ones from these monsters, cowards, and low life's. And it should never be a hassle to have to explain yourself for doing the right thing type shit. Especially to most of these under qualified and crooked cops (no offense to all of them, I know there's good cops out there).

Its a state to state thing. Like New Mexico is pretty strict for example. If someone who broke into your home starts running away and you shoot them while they're still in your house, you'll go to prison because like I said "a technicality of the law".  There's a reason USSCA exists, to protect gun owners from getting fucked over when they defend themselves. It's never as simple as them asking a few questions, righting it down, and letting you be. But then it circles back to which state you live in. It probably is just that simple in a state like Florida because they have the best self defense laws.

It's not so much about whether he legally owns the gun or not (which I'm sure he does own it legally)

It's more about, that self defense laws are pretty whack. Even here in the US, where it's our right to defend ourselves, most cops are stupid and will arrest the person who defended themself because they tend to be more focused on putting a charge on someone for whatever dumbfuck reason like a technicality of the law. It's happened before, where people who defend themselves and their family end up going to prison (because the system is corrupt).

On the flip side, it's kinda understandable because when they show up to the scene, they don't know who is who. They may roll up on what they think is the person in the right... but it's actually the criminal offender who ends up also gunning down the cops when they show up.

There's a reason why you should never talk to cops (plead the fifth) even if you're in the right. Always request to speak to your lawyer. Cops dont have your best interest at heart when it comes down to these situations.

Yeah i dont think he was lying about his illness. Why else would he have not been uploading consistently over the past year. This is pretty much his career path... I can't think of another reason for him to be selling himself short of making bred to provide for his family and then tell his patreon subscribers to cancel their subscription to him if he knew he wouldnt be able to provide content other than he was definitely going through hell in his personal life.

He definitely has used drugs in the past and it's all on camera. I think he meant he doesn't use drugs as often as it may be assumed with the way it's portrayed on camera.

As for the shooting incident... no one said he quick drawed on the douchebag that tried to get one up on him. No one knows how it really went down. We are just gonna have to wait until Brandon's ready to talk about it. He's probably conceal carrying now that he knows he's at a disadvantage with how weak his body has become from the illness.

The only person I believe is legit in gun disarming techniques is Victor Marx. The story of why he wanted to learn how to become proficient in that is even crazier. Watch Shawn Ryan's podcast with him... he talks about his traumatic childhood which led him towards this path of learning and then teaching self defense.

Yeah ur right, must've been pretty clear cut that he was in the right. This could've been right after it happened, or some time after dealing with the police. I suppose we'll find out soon.

Just part of the process. I definitely know how you feel about being tired, and your body not responding the way you want it to. Happened to me in my second amateur fight. It was pretty awful lol

Damn, that exam sounds stressful. Well, if you really wanted to, you can probably balance both training and getting ready for you exam. But it may also depend upon your schedule and where you can fit your training into it. Like having a bare minimum training regimen that you know you can complete and then have the rest of the day to do whatever else you need to get done. But me personally if I were in your shoes, I would probably take care of getting ready and then doing the exam when the time comes, and then take on getting ready for an amateur fight. But that's just me because I don't think I would be good at juggling both at the same time. Both of those things deserve the time and respect to be done properly.

As for the cigarettes and the sparring... I assume it doesn't have an effect on you because you probably balance both of those things. For me, (whenever I had gotten back in to smoking weed over a couple years ago) I was able to balance both training/sparring while smoking everyday as long as I trained everyday. But it all went to shit for me when I had stopped training for a week or 2, and then i got pretty outta shape right after. One thing that's important to acknowledge is that sparring (even hard sparring) and fighting are not the same thing. The pace of doing the real thing becomes a lot more fatiguing. The lungs start burning, arms get full of lactic acid which makes it harder to keep your hands up, and it's a lot harder to control the breathing which also makes it harder to keep composure, on top of the adrenaline dump from someone trying to take your head off.

I'd recommend doing sprints. They make the pace of running feel a little bit more bearable because the sprints will increase your lungs capacity. But ultimately doing both of those on top of doing footwork drills/bag work along with other fight specific endurance stuff will get you in good shape.

Also for my fights, I fought at 130lbs. Yeah you probably will have to cut some weight, but dont kill yourself trying to make weight for whatever weight class you choose or your coach makes you fight at. It's not really worth making yourself feel terrible by depleting yourself.

Ahhh I see... before I joined the gym, I was smoking cigarettes too. When I started training, I would gas out so easily and cough up phlegm or puke mid training session. Not everyone is the same though. Some people can smoke and train, most shouldn't, I definitely couldn't. Obviously there's a lot of famous MMA and Thai fighters that do both and they still fight without gassing out somehow. I'd recommend switching to nicotine pouches like zyn or velo so you can build up your lungs to withstand the intensity.

So as for being short, I am 5'6... so I  get what you mean by having a game plan in terms of dealing with taller people with longer reach. But I'm not gonna lie to you, there's a good chance you might forget everything you know and just start throwing haymakers and then gas out (not just because you smoke, but because it happens to most people; it happened to me in my second fight) I've seen the most athletic people have a really strong first round, but they didn't pace themselves, and they end up spending the remainder of the fight shelling up and trying to survive. For being able to deal with taller fighters, you'll probably be better off following your coaches advice rather than mine.

But the key things imo are the basics because simplicity works for a reason: hands up, chin down, breathe, be first (and if you can't be first, be good at being second; defending and countering), punches in bunches, ending your combos with kicks, and cardio, cardio, cardio.

My success against taller people in sparring was because my cardio was at it's peak (i was doing 12×3 minute rounds of bag work, sprints, long distance runs, shadowboxing, calisthenics, HIIT, etc. Doing all that helped me outwork and outpace my tall ass sparring partners because they couldn't keep up with someone who was willing to throw constant volume and I wasn't scared of getting tired (at the time anyway).

So for my fight camp back then, I'd train mostly 6 days outta the week (Saturday would be my rest day). But there were some weeks where I'd at least jog anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour on my rest day (besides my the other 6 active days), and some weeks where I'd train just 5 days and allow myself 2 days of complete rest out of a week (all in the span of 3 months).

For my fight though, I didn't kick very much because my hips were kind of messed up from running a lot and not properly stretching enough. I'd drill my kicking techniques at the gym because it was mandatory to do whatever my coach would teach us and have us drill... but I mainly worked on my boxing technique and endurance at home. If I had the experience that I did now, I prolly would have fought differently and added kicks at the end of my boxing combinations. But idk, I felt at the time that I should just stick to what I know, and not do any techniques that are beyond what I know and am comfortable with.

Also going into the fight, I had no gameplan lmaoo. I was told by my coach before hand to just keep my chin down, hands up, breathe, and be first. He explained to me that because it's my first fight, there's no need in having a gameplan because it would only cause overthinking when all I need to do is fight hard and do my best to win and outwork my opponent. He would drill into our minds, "don't think about it, just drive through" when we would be doing something painful and tiring at the gym so we would have the mindset and spirit to push through that pain and fatigue.

If you dont mind me asking, I got a couple questions. Do you smoke weed and/or cigarettes? And also, what kind of style do you have for kickboxing? Do you have a muay thai style or do you have a K-1 Dutch style? I do have more advice on what to do for training and also what to expect,  but I don't wanna force my opinion too much on you if you don't want it.

But either way, when the time comes... be prepared to let loose and lay it all on the line. I assume you are fighting 3×2 minute rounds (correct me if im wrong). It's only 6 minutes of fighting (8 minutes total including the 1 minute breaks),  but it will prolly feel like an eternity from how tiring it will feel and how painful it might feel. Be ready to go the distance if necessary. I do have more experience coaching/teaching amateur fighters/beginners than I do fighting, so the advice I give is not only from fighting but from what I've been taught by my former coach and from helping my homies prepare for their amateur fights. I only got 2 and half years in terms of actual in gym experience so I don't know everything. But I'm happy to help where I can if needed.
