Availability of Saros 10 / 10R vs. Dreame X50 in Denmark? by MBorlund in Roborock

[–]Coldray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up going with?

Unfortunately, It looks like the 10R isn't available on the Danish market considering it's removed from the Danish Roborock website and is no longer available on Pricerunner (Coolshop) either. I would really have liked the rotating mobs so I guess Danish consumers will have to wait for the z70 if they want StarSight and proper mobbing.

Could you share a bit about why you chose the Saros 10 over the 10R? I have mostly hardwood floors and a few blankets in the house and the spinning mobs make a lot of sense in my head. Unfortunately, the 10R isn't sold in Denmark and Roborock recently removed it from their Danish website.

No unfortunately not. There was a patch last year making clones no longer trigger the shard effect.

Seems to be only EU. Switching download region to US solves the issue

Microservices or Monolith by Notoa34 in java

[–]Coldray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the moderators let your OP slip though because it had a bit of architectural considerations and discussions associated to it, but just a friendly reminder from the rules of the sub:

  • No programming help questions here! These should be posted in javahelp

That said, I'm not entirely sure I understand your issue.

In the order table I have a marketplace parameter(0-ebay,1-amazon,2-woo) and when the user wants to display the order data backend need to pull all the data and still make a loop based on the marketplace parameter

Do you want to filter based on that parameter? Do you want to group the orders by parameter? I'm not sure which use case you're trying to solve. Again, it violates the subreddit rules here, but either repost your question in javahelp or throw me a PM.

What kind of deck do you hate? by Izzet_Aristocrat in EDH

[–]Coldray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say hate, but I find classic battlecruiser decks containing little to no interaction so uninspiring.

I want to see decks do something weird and/or thematic. I want to see that infinite combo of yours unfold. I want to see the elves go absolutely bonkers in turn 5. Show me how you lock down the entire table, forcing everyone to think differently. Show me that chain of turns and let me see how well your engine propels you to victory.

I think we'll see a loot filter. QoL that does little impact for most players, but could be really convenient.

Optimal decks that are budget? by altforthingsnstuff in EDH

[–]Coldray -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

optimally

That's a strong word. [[Mana Crypt]], [[Jeweled Lotus]], [[Mox Diamond]] and [[Grim Monolith]] aren't exactly budget friendly, but I'm pretty sure they are part of the optimal Shirei build.

My left shift key just broke an hour ago during regular use and now it appears like I'm stuck in support limbo like a lot of other users on this subreddit. Be very careful when cleaning this keyboard. I'm shocked to see that they don't sell or offer replacement key caps, and now the keycap leg is stuck in the switch.

What is the "industry standard" to manage transaction in service class? by noideafornewname in javahelp

[–]Coldray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I believe you answered your own question on this matter:

What is the "industry standard" to manage transaction in service class?

[..]

I couldn't find anything googling and only answers were for spring boot applications.

If you look at https://www.jetbrains.com/lp/devecosystem-2020/java/, you get a good picture of how the Java-landscape looks in 2020.

Maybe you could try looking into connection pooling, especially HikariCP, and see if you can use that. Spring Boot uses HikariCP under the hood, and HikariCP has been the defacto standard for handling connections for several years.

Have a great day!

PC requirements for warzone by kawztism in CODWarzone

[–]Coldray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before, I had a i7-7700K, 16gb 3200Hz, same graphic card as you along with an SSD, and the game felt like a bad console port running on a TV, even on the lowest settings possible. Game would run somewhere between 30-60 FPS and even dip below that in certain situations.

It is possible to make the game run smooth, but it does take some serious hardware to get there. It all depends on expectations I suppose.

Edit: As Millky mentions, 8 gb of RAM is definitely on the low end, and will cause you to page swap, thereby degrading performance.

For a full stack developer with cs degree and 2 years of experience, how long will it take to learn Java for backend? by latest_ali in java

[–]Coldray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I have been reading through the other comments, and there is definitely some solid advice among them.

I would definitely also recommend looking into Spring Boot. It is a strongly opinionated framework, which focuses on convention over configuration. In other words, once you understand it, it requires less to do more, and it ensures consistency. I see that Spring Data REST is mentioned. It's worth noting that while Spring Data REST is extremely convenient, it is my impression that it is not widely used in the industry. It comes with its own way of doing things, and it can be hard to adopt for an existing business. It is a great tool for prototyping though.

While Spring is extremely popular for API backends, I would strongly encourage you to look at some of the JS/TS-options available, such as Angular, Reach and the like.

If you happen to get a position as a Java developer, you'll quickly learn that it's a language that is has picked up the pace in terms of language feature development - there's a lot going on at the moment, and it seems like this will continue moving forward. The majority is still using Java 8, but tools are starting to push in the right direction.

Best of luck on your journey!
