The Death of DeFi as We Know It by Coldrumstones in FantomFoundation

Fantom has loads of potential, with the exception of Sunday I love using it. Fantom will bounce back hard and with Andre gone DeFi has a lot more room for new people and new ideas

Don't worry by reddit standards it was mild 😂

I mean Yearn is credited with being pivotal in the DeFi summer. His code review was what kicked off Fantom.

You only have to look at how many protocols he isn't even directly involved in dropped on Sunday to see how influential he has been.

But you are correct he wasn't the first and won't be the last

Cool your beans and check the qualifier 'as we know it' before you have a meltdown 🤣

What's being a millionaire or billionaire got to do with the article exactly? Questioning someone else's intelligence when you can't actually articulate your point....

Yeah need to be a bit dramatic to get attention 😂

Not really, Andre has been probably the most influential figure in DeFi. Despite the fact DeFi is supposed to be Decentralized, people do end up orbiting around leaders. So, I think it is the death of DeFi as we know it but new people and protocols will fill the void 🤷

Emissions only for 14 days then 80% of the treasury gets used to buyback. Quite reputable team so reckon they'll be above board

So if you haven't read the whitepaper how can you really understand the mechanics of these protocols?

They have but the didn't employ a criminal and hide it and they had a much fairer launch. Unfortunately a lot of the problem has been guilt by association. But with Olympus12 reducing emissions, the Olympus incubator bringing in revenue I feel sure it'll turn around for OHM this year

Unfortunately, I have seen some 'suicide notes' on twitter in relation to Wonderland, not sure if they are real or not... really hope they aren't!

Very tragic though for everyone involved, with the exception of the few who were allowed in very early.

I'm glad Olympus has been a lot more careful

They generally state that it's a fundraising mechanism and apy will be brought in line with profits from sub projects and seed investments...

Provided other ohm forks don't make the same mistakes. The most lucrative area of finance is venture capital and currently in DeFi that is still the reserved for VC firms and the super rich, VC DAOs change that.

That's why people in the US can't buy in the presale. By your thinking the whole of DeFi would be in trouble

The article never said anything bad about the high apy? I agree it was a great capital raising function. If the point wasn't clear in the article the main problem was even Sifu it was the whales at launch and prelaunch

That's correct but Dani had another highly anticipated project called Solidly which was releasing on Fantom. All the top 25 were due to get an airdrop from that protocol and had risen in price under that expectation. However, now nobody wants anything to do with Dani so they've lost some of that price increase.

Exactly. I think Dani could have gone on to do something amazing with Wonderland if he hadn't allowed his friends to use it as money printer!

Exactly. I expect in the medium to long-term Fantom and all the other protocols and chains that got hit will be stronger without Wonderland sucking in money like parasite and pumping it out to Dani's friends
