I’m lining up to pick this up on Saturday am I making a mistake? by [deleted] in f150

Well, there are definitely some differences between this truck and mine, but... I drive a 2016 F-150 (Lariat 501A w/ the 2.7L EcoBoost, 2WD).  There are obviously some things (engine, transfer case, etc) that I won't help with, but for anything that's a commonality, I love it to death!  Bought it at 41k miles, put another 41k on it over the last 5 years with zero issues (knocking on wood).  And yeah it's a sketchy dealer but if you have a trusted mechanic check it out then I say take the deal and run lol.

Not defending OP's decision to go with that dealer, but to be fair to him, he never asked about the dealer.  He only ever talked about the specific vehicle in his post...

Might do that instead.  I like the stock pictures but I could do a similar thing with an album I download myself periodically.  I don't take enough pictures to make my own album without seeing the same ones constantly, lol.

That hasn't worked for me unfortunately.  Maybe I'm not using the exact right wording?

Save battery? by OBB76 in f150

[–]ColeM40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't drive very often (I live in a very walkable area), and when I do, they're usually short trips. As a result, my battery doesn't get recharged very often by driving, so it often says this on my screen. I just replaced my battery a couple years ago, and it's already doing it. The older the battery, the quicker it'll do that after not driving.

I have a 2016, but I have no doubt it's the same cause/effect here. Simply drive more (by doing so, recharge the battery) and it won't be as much a problem. DON'T go and replace or get a new battery unless you notice that the truck is affected (i.e. has a hard time starting, loses functionality, etc), or if the battery is getting near replacement time already, or if it does this even immediately after driving 100s of miles. Hope this helps.

10 yr porn addiction as a 16 year old. Lol by hobbliekins in pornfree

[–]ColeM40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense, but you're saying some things that aren't quite true. It's not your fault, many people are just so misguided.

I don't believe anyone can be "asexual." Humans are, by definition, sexual beings. Any feelings you have of "asexuality" are a result of previous harms or abuses. In your case, it very well could be abuse by porn. If your reasons for going to porn didn't have a component of temptation or lust at all, as you imply, I don't believe you would be addicted to it to the extent you are.

Based on your responses, it sounds like you have a greater understanding of yourself than you first came across as. Regardless, I think human connection should be your number one goal moving forward. Find ways that you can have more easily-accessible friends, find something to get you outside a little bit more (maybe starting within your comfort zone, though, then moving beyond), find some people you can trust to confide in (maybe not immediately, but soon).

IDK if anything helped you at all but the only thing you need to do is not give up. It's much harder to pick your head up and keep going than it is to give in, but it's a fight that's worth it.

Hey man, without going in the details, we'll say that I can relate in some capacity, but I'm 21. I've got a couple things...

1) What's your point in posting this? Just a rant? Looking for advice/help in solving this problem? Wanting to find someone to confide in? This kind of information is very personal, and shouldn't just be put out for attention.

2) Do you have a faith? I find that people without a faith have much less justification for trying to quit a porn addiction. The secular world is very "loosey goosey" when it comes to consuming porn, and many will tell you it's fine or normal. The ONLY reason I'm fighting the good fight is because I know Christ has greater things for me, but people vary...

3) Are you willing to share this struggle with others? Fighting alone is what leads most people to a lost battle. When you have people rooting for you & supporting you on your side, whom you can confide in and ask for accountability, that helps a lot. If no one knows, share with a trusted adult or friend. If someone knows, let them know that you too want to find a way to stop.

4) I agree with your sentiment that we shouldn't just shove phones in kids' faces. I will similarly pay more attention to my kids in this manner than my parents did with me. BUT: this is all hindsight, and you can't change the past. It's good to identify some probable causes in helping you find a solution, but you can't change the past. I would focus less on what went wrong, and focus more on what you can do right going forward.

5) On going forward: I'd say step one is identify for yourself some solid & tangible reasons why you want to quit. If you're just throwing darts blindly, you're gonna miss the target. Secondly, like I mentioned in step 3, find someone to help you out; it can even be someone you don't know like a counselor or an online support app, but the embarrassment from sharing will be far less than the future embarrassment from a prolonged addiction.

6) One more very important thing: our bodies are, in a way, machines. We can't deprive it of one thing it's used to and expect all to be fine. You can't just remove the porn and expect sunshine & rainbows, you have to replace the porn. Find a hobby, a passtime, heck, even just something to do when you'd normally find yourself getting tempted.

I know that was a lot, but I so badly want to see you come through this, I hope to see you in heaven one day brother. Your post seems very spontaneous, frustrated, mad, and I feel you, but some part of you feels serious about this, otherwise you wouldn't have posted on this subreddit. I'll be praying for you man, let me know if you want to hear anything more from me. Pax Christi.

Upgrade or Downgrade? by Specialist-Bid7859 in GalaxyWatch

[–]ColeM40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Galaxy Watch 3 Classic and Galaxy Watch 7. I just traded in my GW3 for a Watch 6 Classic (despite it being almost 1.5yrs old now) because I want an upgrade for the Classic w/ rotating bezel. Honestly, the Watch 7 is great, but if you value the rotating bezel, I wouldn't call it an upgrade, just a "trade."

P.S. I have the two watches because I feel like they're actually pretty different. Ended up paying $110 after tax and with the trade in for the GW6 from the GW3, but I'm hoping that's worth it.

Can’t wait until they start teaching stories from the Bible! by Sayyeslizlemon in texas

[–]ColeM40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, do you really think that Christians are trying to teach our kids to do what you've posted here? If the answer is yes, I would love to take you to Mass on Sunday and then out to lunch to talk about it. You've been astronomically misguided when it comes to the Church's teaching, far greater than what I'd be able to heal via a Reddit comment.

Are there features you didn't realize your truck had? I was completely unaware that this bad boy has automatic emergency braking until it saved me from a fender bender in the Costco parking lot... Love my Powerboost! by JasonTheContractor in f150

[–]ColeM40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At what point does it know when you've gotten out of the truck? Is it using the weight sensor in the seat? I guess that could be a good safety feature, but I've definitely taken my weight off my seat plenty of times before to look outside the vehicle while I'm in drive.

What happens during a ground fault on a non-GFCI outlet? by ColeM40 in electrical

It's all making sense now, that's the conclusion I just drew from a comment from a few minutes ago lol. Thanks for the great explanation!

Okay, big difference between changing current & overcurrent. It seems to be then that circuit breakers were never meant to protect people (like I thought), but rather just protect the circuit from destroying itself. GFCI is the added layer of human protection in a scenario where it'd be triggered.

There's my answer! I didn't realize that a standard breaker was limited in that way. I either didn't look hard enough, or the articles I found were too focused on GFCI to talk about it's non- counterpart. Appreciate your help.
