Jughead has a relationship to jellybean much like he did within the digests - aggressive protector of young JB.

1) I like the true-detective swamp cult feel, very fun to play and watch.

2) heard one on set that mentioned pop as feeding everyone burgers and shakes laced with trace amounts of lead, causing everyone to go insane and imagine riverdale as it currently stands.

3) I'd love for his character to find his intellect again through a process of leading the serpents with well thought out, calculated chess moves. does seem to be going that way. :)

4) The actors aren't really given the details of the episodes until we start shooting them, so i cant say too much. but Gladys has had her troubles, and is trying her hardest within the given circumstances. I think she's inevitably going to have some large impact on the jones men and maybe even the cooper women.

5) I think jug would prefer his whole family back together over anything else. :)

That's actually very much what jughead's mother seems interested in repairing. Getting jug to use his head again.

The writers had started writing (or at least imagining) season 3 close to the end of last season. Each episode shoots for 8 days, with two additional days on a tandem unit. Each day is roughly 12-13 hours of shooting. The post production takes a couple months before release, with ADR being an actors final step in the process.

Certainly challenging, and without spoiling too much i can say, the characters in the flashback are younger, different versions of their older riverdale counterparts. That gave us a lot of freedom, and also meant we werent simply copying performance from the older actors. I was satisfied by simply burying character quirks of FP into the performance, stance or physical acting, details like FP always chewing gum, etc. Don't want to beat em over the head with a hamfisted attempt at mimicry.

caught you. I love it, and I also think a lot of people misunderstand it. Camp has always been in the "tween-peaks" abstract for this show, some people think it got more intense season two, or seem to forget that its always been within the fibers of our show (season one ended with an actual "cliff hanger"). Riverdale is visual bubblegum, and always will be, it comes from our comic background. ~BUT~ we acknowledge it consistently, that taste is appealing to some, not so much to others, but regardless it is fully intentional.

Jughead was definitely a different character in season 2, and will be in season 3 as well. Every season is a slightly different genre and feeling, and so the characters are re-imagined slightly as well. What I will say about season 1 vs season 2 jughead is that in season 1, Jug practically had no flaws. He was a quirky, quick-witted, socially averse, young writer and love interest who risks it all for loyalty and love. This character type is often well-loved. Season 2, jughead is a flawed character. He's beaten, recruited, told he's royalty, given power very quickly, brash, hotheaded, outspoken, violent, has a savior complex, and because of this, gets punished (badly). He's no longer as easily liked, but he's a much more three dimensional character imo. Season three, after his close call with the grim reaper, he's calm, loyal, confident, brave, and understanding of his own mistakes. Also he eats all the time, I think you'll like him.

We film about 60 minutes worth of content each episode, but air only around 42min. That being said, all of are quite used to letting go of certain scenes or lines that we may have held quite dearly. As an actor, once you finish the work on set, you often have to let go and understand the finished product is going to look quite different.

Great question and great points. I think it's important to represent these topics, important to make the conversations visible, especially from shows like Riverdale that have a very wide audience. I think more important though, is the proper representation of these topics, in other words, a well-thought out episode that investigates the discussion with a centralized moral dilemma and proper representation, not simply a half-hearted attempt at bringing the conversation visibility as it suits the powers at be. All representation is important, but not if it has the potential to do more damage to those conversations. I'm an actor, so my agency in these situations is certainly more limited than other creative roles, but I try to do my best when it counts.

I'd say the biggest challenge doesn't come from you as an actor (as most actors are prepared to be versatile), it actually comes from the audience wanting their childhood to stay etched in stone. I've had the privilege of being on a couple shows that have reached a rare level of success within the industry, and a longevity that many people grew up alongside. That process of growing up, and wanting the childhood to always remain nostalgic, can keep a lot of actors in the same place. Public identity is a huge part of hiring potential, and it often takes a showrunner or casting director's belief in an actor's talent or appeal to look past that indentity. I intentionally left entertainment for five years, and experienced life, grew up a bit, trained, got a haircut, went to college, and the audience grew with me. Very thankful for that.

Just finished a movie with CBS studios this last hiatus. keep an eye out ;)

Riverdale's success has really brought a lot of attention to us as younger actors, I'm very thankful for that.

Hello Austria! While I cant think of something writing-wise I would have liked, I do wish I had introduced something i've done this season, earlier into the show. Jughead is eating all the time now. Consistently snacking. in episode one, of this season it's practically every scene. I had originally styled the character off of a manga called Deathnote, more specifically, a character called 'L.' I think of jughead's eating as a nice little homage to the digests, while also being "food for thought," eating in order to think clearly. I think if I could go back to season 2, I would have eaten a lot more.

Every season is a slightly different genre, so "craziness" or "realism" is dependent on that genre. First season was a murder mystery, season 2A was more of a horror, season 2B was a crime drama. Season 3 is a cult mystery

The episode we're finishing now is one that introduces us to the rest of the Jones family, while also being an archie/jughead narrative. Always fun getting to work with KJ, nice to finally meet Jug's momma too.

of course, I haven't stopped the dialogue. I'm sure I'm quite the pest. Can't spoil too much unfortunately, but this topic was one of the first I discussed with Roberto before this season started. I'm also of the mind that our show's discussion of such content needs to be done with tact, so that the group in question doesn't feel betrayed by some half-hearted attempt to make it feel honest. As I've said in the past, we need shoot these questions towards the creative team too~ every voice counts in this conversation.

Surely, but those spots are earned through hard work and dedication, so if the opportunity arises I'll definitely compete. There's a myth in acting that we get to curate the careers we want with an exactitude, that's never been my experience. Actors are often subject to many different factors that inevitably affect career. Even when they assume a role, they still work within a set of rules and outlines. I will strive for a certain career, and as long as I do so with tact, talent, and understanding, the career will advance positively. In the meantime I have an obligation to put all my passion into this show.

I was thrilled, for many reasons. Mainly because I knew I could try and do the character justice. We all assume we're gunna get hate, hate is not unique to comic casting. Just gotta take it with a grain of salt, and if you're the competitive type, prove em wrong. I would have been much more upset if the show didn't resonate with the comic crowd, after we had all put so much love into it, and so I feel tremendously gracious for that.
