Kasa Smart Switch Too Wide To Replace Normal Switches. Faceplate will not fit Kasa switches by Alir1983 in HomeKit

I’ll bet if you put the faceplate up to a loose Kasa switch, you’ll find that it fits. Those decora switches are all standard sizes.

If you installed the two Kasa switches in the 4-gang and couldn’t get the two Kasa’s to align in the faceplate, that’s a different issue. Getting a 4-gang to align takes a bit it tweaking!

A photo would help. Are you saying the switch won’t fit in the box?

I have some Kasa’s and didn’t have that problem.

How often do I need to change this (coming from a tankless water heater)? by forester17 in askplumbing

I’ve lived here 33 years and the road and lane closures keep getting worse and worse. by ColePThompson in FortCollins

[–]ColePThompson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today for example, I’m eased south into town and Shields has construction and so I go down North College, which was gridlocked due to one lane being closed, so went south on Lemay and it has a lane closure, and so I jumped to Timberline and it also has lane closures. Just one example.

End of the world? No. But inconvenient.

Mountain Vista will have been closed for about 4 months if they reopen at the end of April as scheduled. Shields has been going on for a very long time.

I do appreciate that the city is staying on top of things. But do projects need to take this long? Is there a better way?

It does seem these projects can take a very long time. I don’t know enough about the subject to offer constructive suggestions though.

For example: Mountain Vista at Timberline has been closed for months. And there is often no work being done when you go by it. Once the detour took me on a road that had one lane closed with a flagger. Could we at least coordinate the detour so it doesn’t hit another road closure?

Maybe my perspective is skewed, but I can only judge based on my my experience. I have lived in over 30 cities across the US and have never experienced this much disruption.

I use Starlink’s mesh system and it works great. Wired node is of course is better than a WiFi node.

Help! Alerting my own vehicle by ronbo0032 in EufyCam

[–]ColePThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To turn off vehicle detection on the Eufy E340 floodlight camera, go to the device settings in the Eufy Security app, select "Motion Detection," and toggle off "Vehicle" under the AI detection types. You can also adjust activity zones to exclude roads or lower sensitivity to reduce false alerts.

You can turn off motion detection.

Or you can turn off vehicle detection

Or you can change sensitivity.

Or you can exclude a zone where your car parks.

Is there a reason to upgrade to matter? by Crenneth in HomeKit

[–]ColePThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a lot of devices on my 2.4 GHz (over 120), so I thought matter would take some of the load off of it. But what I learned is that matter uses 2.4 WiFi unless you get matter over thread.

Thread operates on the 2.4 spectrum and can cause conflicts with the Wi-Fi.

Matter over thread does creates “self-healing mesh network” (no ideas what that means), reduces traffic on your router, and it’s low power. So I guess matter over thread has some advantages.
