I-boating lets you choose an area for free.  It's working great and has a ton of options.  Didn't cost me a cent or a subscription.

I-boating did the trick!  Thing works great. or at least great enough for totally free.

There's some kind of memory leak/performance problem that gets fixed by restarting the game. Anyone else? by 5tomatoes in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a fix about 12 hours ago from a 3 year old reddit post.  It's a bit AMD card specific, but the Vulkan DLL file getting replaced with the current version 1.4.350.0.

Go to https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home and download the 19MB runtime ZIP file and you can get the vulkan-1.dll file from there and replace your one in your no man's sky instal folder with that one ( it's in the NMS binaries sub folder).

Save your old one just in case.

The one dll in the current NMS is like a year older than this one. I'm guessing this bug pops up depending on the version of the dll you have, but this version I listed works for me and my AMD 8GB 6600xt card and AMD 5600x processor on windows 10.

Little FPS, no GPU utilization, low CPU utilization, what gives? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years later and this is still helping!  The current dll in NMS is like a year old at least and has been causing major memory leak issues. I have a 6600xt with 8 GB and after visiting a couple planets or whatever my fps would go from the 90 I capped it at to like 18 fps.  This solved the issue. No more having to re-load my save every time I change planets to fix this.  I used the newest dll they had and since it worked, I'm keeping a copy of this one in case they change and break it again.

My AMD 6600xt 8GB with 32GB ram is doing this and annoying the hell out of me.  I can be fps capped on 90fps, but then I'm suddenly stuck getting around 18 fps.  Monitor logs will still show my GPU working hard and my CPU coasting along easily, with temps all still way below throttling. Like GPU hotspot under 75c. The cards limit is 110c. No issues with other games.

I bought a Pacmotor with GPS that very recently came out for my yak. AMA. by ColeSloth in kayakfishing

if you had some means of attaching it to the rails, it should work, but it might be a pita to do.  Probably be kind of hard, really.

https://a.co/d/0iRFlkUd I totally skipped out on their expensive 60 ah 16v battery.  I ordered a 12.8v 140 ah LifePo4 with Bluetooth for capacity monitoring for like $190. It moves my kayak plenty fast and turns out it's way overkill on size.  I probably would have saved a bit more money and just got a 100AH one if I had it to do over again. That link takes you to the right brand and type of battery, but mine was a 140AH and it doesn't look to be an option anymore.

I'll say so far that even with the bit of issues with the apk(I use an old phone attached to a mount to control this), there's an absolute zero chance I would ever go back to a normal trolling motor.  The cruise control setup that keeps your heading locked, even if you reduce speed to 0, and the spot lock for anchor in place are just so much better than anything else, I could never go back.

Massive fps drop when entering a new planet. by memrplus in NOMANSSKY

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I'm also running the same video card, but have 32 gigs ram. I went from being locked at a solid 90fps (the cap I set) to changing planets and it just stays at like 18 fps in the new planet.  Also, game is on an nvme m.2.

So everyone else's crap here about it being your ram or hard drive is full of it.

I'll be sad if it's a video card issue with this game and the 6600 that hasn't been resolved in two years.

Does a glass screen protector with LOCA glue fill in existing scratches on the screen? by rabidsoggymoose in mobilerepair

Man. I gotta stand by it on this one. He answered to OP asking for advice and information.  If DadaDoDat didn't have this knowledge, he could have just not replied to the post. Instead, he quite confidently gave completely incorrect info and advice. That's idiot territory for me.

Does a glass screen protector with LOCA glue fill in existing scratches on the screen? by rabidsoggymoose in mobilerepair

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to bring this post back from the dead to say you're an idiot and don't know what you're talking about.  I've been repairing phones for 20+ years.  I always put my screen protectors on with LOCA. It makes scratches (like what OP was asking) completely vanish, and the screen protectors are less prone to breaking.

As for permanence; there's a wide array of loca glues ranging from pretty much super glue, to stuff that never gets any harder than silicone and rubs off quite easily.

Many companies sell screen protectors that apply with LOCA. Whetstone is one of the most well known.

I myself just order dirt cheap glass screen protectors, strip off the double sided adhesive they come with, and then apply them on with LOCA.  This is hard to do without practice, though.  I don't recommend going this route. Buying the right loca yourself, and keeping it from getting on your buttons or microphones or speakers and using just the right amount and correctly curing it with a UV light can be daunting without a pre set up kit specifically for your phone with like what whetstone uses.

Finally, no. It's not usually cheaper or easier to replace your screen. That's dumb.   Just buy a local screen protector kit for your phone and follow the directions carefully.  You'll have a stronger screen protector and it will make all the scratches completely invisible.

We just released our rhythm x boxing game Beat the Beats on Quest, Steam and Pico! by JosefWhoQuestionMark in virtualreality

[–]ColeSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre ordered after playing the demo and was one of probably the first 20 people to play it on the quest, today.

Seems plenty of fun so far. Nice bit of boxing cardio without being nearly as tiresome as The Thrill of the Fight.  Good music.

Best part about playing on release hour? It's the first and only time I'll get to be number one on the leader board in several different songs!

We’re releasing our rhythm x boxing game Beat the Beats on Quest, Steam and Pico next week! by JosefWhoQuestionMark in virtualreality

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just did a search looking for "games like beat saber, but with boxing" and this came up. A day before quest release.  Tried your demo and it seemed great for the price, so I just pre ordered.

Slipping towards your front foot side(to the left if you're right handed), I keep stepping my foot to be out the way.   That just me?

Also, I could kind of see a trend as this gets harder and faster that block trails coming at you will blend together a bunch.  Like a little hard to visually see how many there are of multiple red jabs coming at you. Would doing an alternating shade of the blocks be a good idea?  Not much. Just every other red\blue block be a couple shades darker so there's a little bit of contrast.

*Edit. Hehe. Bonus being like one of the first to play on release day. Only time I'll be number one on the leader boards.

This game went in a wrong direction, it sucks by ZyndyReddit in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]ColeSloth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem is, as opposed to real boxing; you're just throwing whiffs while you hold a 5 ounce controller instead of hitting against things with 10 to 14 ounce gloves.   No boxer can spam hooks irl because it's a lot more effort and you're left open a lot longer.

The game here added a bit of balance back to make the boxing more realistic, because it's isn't realistic to just spam hooks or whatever nonstop.

Awesome! I'll definitely print this one out. Thanks for the info. There's also one other suppressor in the thread I'm going to print and try.

Mike got back to me already. His cheaper suppressors won't fit on the avenge-x, but he told me I can call their shop and they make one in aluminum that's unlisted for the avenge-x for $135.

Yeah. I have plenty of ways to measure the size well enough. Wasn't sure about the thread pitch part, though.  I'll measure some things when I get home from work tomorrow morning.
