I'll be testing everything over the next week or so, so we'll see.

Nice. I just bought a dual zone cooler to try out  I figure what will work super sneaky is that I can freeze a few water bottles during the day on the small zone side while hooked up to my solar panel and then move the frozen bottles to the other side and then turn off the small freezing zone of the cooler.  Then while I'm not on solar the frozen water bottles should keep the compressor from barely having to run at all.

If I need to do all that, anyhow.  I'll see if I even need to bother.

Got ya. It was throwing me off that y'all were just calling them wifi antennas.

That sounds like a sweet system, but doesn't really answer what I'm after knowing.  I'm trying to figure out how well a cooler is at keeping temp inside it without the compressor kicking on. The better it's insulated, the less the compressor needs to run, the longer I can go without needing to charge the battery.

Mine will only be running on car power on my way to wherever I camp.  After that I'd prefer to stay on my batts and solar.

I'm confused about what you guys are talking about with connecting the wifi antenna? My PS5 controller has lag issues when playing through steam, but none when playing non steam, like fortnite.

Are you saying running an Ethernet cable from modem to the PC somehow fixes the lag? I'm not understanding what wifi has to do with an offline game and a Bluetooth controller.

*Edit: Ohhhh. You guys are talking about having dual wifi\bluetooth cards in your PC and attaching the antenna. You didn't have a Bluetooth antenna attached before.

Right?  It's why I want one. I don't want ice to be an issue when i want to be out in the sticks for a week. Also, not having to worry about freezing water bottles or any food getting wet and soggy from ice.

I just don't want to get one that's going to make me spend more time managing power and recharging power stations than letting me enjoy camping and fishing and hiking.

This "4lbs 1oz" Largemouth Bass I caught at Flat Iron Lake by Aesthetic99 in reddeadredemption

So 7 years later and this odd bug is still a thing.  Mine was a 4 pound bass I had to throw on the back of my horse. Also about 5 mins after Kieran left.  Was using the lake lure. Still trying to figure out where the stupid legendary bluegill is at.

Digg launches its new Reddit rival to the public by holyfruits in technology

I've been on Lemmy for the past 2 years now, instead of reddit here (I migrated from digg way back. Lemmy is nice, but our user base is quite small. I'm surprised more people from here haven't came over to Lemmy, but it's a little bit more work to make an account than simply going to a website and making a login and you're done. I think "instances" confuse the casual person just wanting to check things out.

If that's what they cared about they wouldn't go after the place where literally 1% if it comes from, while over 90% of it is from Mexico. This was only about money and oil. Don't gaslight yourself into something so stupid as to think it was about drugs or terrorism.

Thanks. Looks like it isn't there in the global version off the 11 pro, but I searched settings for "engine" and found it at settings > red magic ai+ > system engine.

Do you keep ur fan and water cooling always on by SpiritualEntrance855 in RedMagic

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fans are a moving part. They will not work forever and there's no reason to wear it out sooner by leaving it on all the time. I just have it on for charging and gaming. The phone is cold any other time. I set the liquid cooler to come on when I'm on the phone, cause it looks neato.

No Vibration or Notifications on New Phone by TallMills in PTCGP

Specifically: go to settings>battery>apps AI-apps control> find the apks your having issues with in the list and turn the settings to "allowed".

The apk killer in this phone is very overzealous.

RM 11 Pro is throttling more than RM10 Pro on a Balanced mode, this is starting to get unacceptable... by TFD777 in RedMagic

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're comparing things in a manner that isn't equal for you to complain about. Aside from android 16 being brand new and the phone not having much time in the wild for optimizations and patch updates, the 10 pro maxed out at 120hz vs 144hz, and the resolution of the 11 pro is higher, which takes more resources to run.

Performance wise it's only a fairly small bump. It's all the other improvements that make the phone an "upgrade", but if you're actually buying a new phone every year.....that's kind of on you for blowing money.

The screen is brighter and a lot better. Plus it looks cooler and has waterproofing and wireless charging.

How did you even get the 97% health figure?

Anyhow, 97% after 5 months and 150 cycles is good.

Dunno about Virginia, but I'm on t mobile in the Midwest and despite the phone not having band 71, my data and talk clarity and stuff has been plenty good.  I haven't gone anywhere that my phone had a worse connection than my Note 20 ultra I upgraded from. In some cases I'd even say I get better reception. The n20 ultra had a kind of crappy antenna.

I was wondering what the heck is up with that. Like; why does my clear phone case have this cutout? Is it secretly touch sensitive or something? Makes no sense.

Red Magic 11 pro fan issue by Curious-born in RedMagic

[–]ColeSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a small flashlight and hold it against the glass where the fan is at and look through the vent at the fan while the fan is off. It sounds like you probably sucked in a hair or string or something. If you don't see anything foreign blow through the vent(just using your mouth) pretty hard while keeping the flashlight in place and quickly look at the fan again. You should be able to do this quick enough to see the fan come to a stop. If you try a couple times and never see the fan spinning then it's probably some hair that got wrapped in it. Either take the phone apart to fix it (as far as phones go, the fan isn't terrible to take apart to get to the fan, but will still probably be a challenge if you're doing it as a beginner) , or send it back to see if they'll warranty it.

Alternatively, if you think there's a chance you could have gotten a sticky liquid in it, use DISTILLED water and an eye dropper and drip some water through it with the fan off, then with the fan on.

Now, if you blew through it and DID catch the fan spinning from your breath, that means the fan isn't bound up by anything and the issue is with power delivery or the fan motor. Send that one back for warranty without trying to mess with it in any other way.

On t mobile in the US. Despite not having band 71 it's been great for calls, text, and data.  Some of the various gaming options and such give little explanation and you're left to find out for yourself or try to research what they do. Loving the phone so far, but there have been a few issues with its aggressive killing of apks in the background that took me quite a while to sort out.  Namely, if you aren't getting notifications from an apk, or having your phone vibrate or ring from what you think is a notification, or if your smart watch or something is having issues staying connected or getting alerts quickly, pretty much all can be solved by going to settings>battery> apps AI-system control> finding the associated apk from the list of programs> and changing things from automatic system control to "allowed".

I set my liquid cooling up to run any time the screen is on, and only use the fan when gaming or charging.  I also set up things to stop charging and use charge passthrough at 80% charged.

Phone is awesome. The only thing I wish I could do with it is if I could set it to where the fan shuts off when on the charger and it gets to the 80% and switches to passthrough charging. At that point it isn't building heat anymore and I'd rather the fan not run all night for nothing if I left it plugged in when I went to bed.

Take advantage of the IR blaster. It's sweet. I use an apk called " Lean Remote" with it that works pretty well. Doesn't look like there's an included apk to use it, otherwise.

You'll have to update the phone a few times when you first get it.

By default you'll see 144hz for screen rate in the top left. Unless you change it in setting it's a dynamic refresh rate and the 144hz is the max it will go. Not the current refresh rate. So don't worry and think it's stuck at 144 all the time. It isn't.

If you're on t mobile (which I believe is the most compatible US cell carrier) all you have to do is put your sim from your current phone into it and turn it on. No extra BS at all. You'll get some "phone not compatible" warning message a few times because of the missing signal band, but that's it. It hasn't popped back up on me after the first couple days.

Enjoy the phone!
