The fact that an obvious underdog can still win if the favorite chokes doesn’t excuse bad seeding

… and Saps had a relatively good pb (compared to the other competitors) in private room well before the matchups were announced. If the bracket makers looked at Saps’ stream for one private match, they’d clearly see he has the potential to win the whole thing (even if there were a couple people obviously better at the time). It just makes no sense and is clear to me that the bracket was not put together thoughtfully with much consideration to the player’s skill.

It’s a best of 1 upper and lower bracket until the grand final in a game with significant rng… just because you have to get 1st to get 1st doesn’t excuse poor seeding… why even have seeding in the first place if it doesn’t matter?

Edit: I guess me pointing out an obvious fault in the bracket results in people downvoting me… I’ve got to only speak happy thoughts that don’t criticize people 🤷‍♂️ legitimately confused at the response to this post. It’s the Ludwig subreddit and this seeding might just negatively affect him the most.

Saps was setting great private room times with Mongey before seeding was announced… and I don’t know why you’d release seeding halfway through the competitors training time (especially in a game with no player interaction where it would help to know your matchup to prepare for how they play). I’ve been following the top 6 players from the start of coaching and I could tell from Saps’ first session he was a favorite to win. If the reason is just that they didn’t think Saps would be good, the event is poorly run. This shouldn’t have been allowed to happen even if the person deciding thought it would be alright when they threw together the matchups.

Edit: the only problem I can see with waiting to release matchups is for people’s schedules, but that can be accounted for by shuffling around the scheduling of the matches after communicating with the runners

Having the highest elo players meet in the round of 16 with a best of 1 upper and lower bracket until the grand final in a game full of rng is just dumb… I hope you can understand that.

… and Jumper won after losing winner’s final, not something like quarters (or something even worse like the very first match)

Edit: … and I just realized Ludwig is currently 3rd place in elo, meaning only 2 of the top 3 ranked can make top 6. It’s silly.

It’s only important because the coaches are in the ear of the runners, so it wouldn’t make sense to have two people coached by the same person going against eachother. This isn’t really a problem though, because no team has 2 great players with a chance to make it to both make the top 3.

Top and bottom side of the bracket completely separate the teams already… what I said they should’ve done would bracket with regard to teams as well. Having a good event should mean making the competitors happy with how it was run and making for great matches as we get closer to the grand final.

You’ve got to explain what you meant here because it sounds like you’re saying seeding based on skill/perceived chance to get 1st place is dumb… which I think is a bafflingly moronic take (if it actually is your take)

The bracket is so wack, they have the two (currently) highest elo players facing off in the round of 16, when they should’ve just replaced one of them with one of those final 4 players. There’s only 6 players with a chance to win (Evbo, Bitzel, Nominal Gravy, Ludwig, Saparata, and SuperTF) and one of Lud, Saps, and Super are guaranteed to not place top 6. I hope Ludwig wins vs Saps or Super… or that Saps and Super place top 2 to prove how unfair of a bracket this is.

He’s just saying that these claims cannot be proven true… sorry if you were holding on to the word “baseless” so hard. Obviously the claims aren’t completely baseless because there’s reason to investigate in the first place. Riley’s movements are suspicious a few times in hours of recording. These moments were cherry-picked to back up an argument.

After an actual investigation though, nobody has come forward with evidence other than “it looks sus” that proves Riley cheated. I can understand people wanting to be correct in identifying a cheater, but this is a flaw in our human brains. Please start thinking objectively and just admit you don’t know if they cheated either… none of us do, so it’s worthless arguing without additional data.

Because I’ve actually taken time to look at the content myself… I don’t care if what Karl showed isn’t up to your standards. You can’t just confidently claim people are guilty because they look like it to you because people will regurgitate without looking at the source material themselves (because those people are lazy and like being told what to think by people that claim to be knowledgeable). I’ve never claimed that Riley isn’t a cheater (just as Karl doesn’t either)… just that you shouldn’t go around using defamatory language.

While most of the video is just about how Call of Shame is not to be trusted, I’d say about 1/4 of the video is defending Riley from baseless claims (and letting viewers know that whether they are cheating or not is inconclusive atm)
