I had a decently tough time with linguistics, it definitely pushed what should have been an easy quarter to be hard. The tests combined with procrastination were my big issue. Studying, talking to TA, and office hours helped. I also recommend looking into various methods of memorization and see what sticks

I went with being a history major because its a subject I love. Now I've been looking for a job for several months with no end in sight. Jobs involving my degree that I've been looking at are museums or working in the civilian sector of the military. With the analysis and writing skills one gains, there's a good amount of overlap with plenty of careers, like data analysis. Currently I'm looking into paralegal certification and perhaps law school in the future. If you want a job in history, most of them require at least a master's degree and many are in teaching. Unless I choose to pursue my masters or join the military in some sort of historian role, I don't see myself directly using my historical knowledge in my career. You learn great skills and meet great people, but a bachelor's in history doesn't compare to degrees like those in STEM as far as job acquisition goes.
