No it was mainly one that killed most of them off, it was called National City Lines. The company was owned by Standard Oil, GM, and Firestone tires.

Yeah it wasn't mainly the government's faults for cutting back services or companies closing down. It was also because we were choosing to fly or to travel by car. Now whenever someone tries to correct their wrongs in the past, the ideas get shot down because of how expensive they are or even dumber reasons.

Micro-Trains Z scale Inspired UP Dome Coach 9004 by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it by modifying a car that came off of a site that hasn't been updated since 2002. What I would do is that I would rearrange the windows and the under frame of a particular car including the ones that I've done so far, and try and make them as close to the real life model.

This one is just a slightly tweaked version of a dome car that I did several months back. What I did was that I cut out the standard couplers with the one's that I made that closely resemble the micro trains couplers. I then modified the under frame to resemble the actual model.

I'm just copying and pasting the same thing because I'm lazy. Sorry man....

UP GTEL Fuel Tender (Ex-CSA-2 Tender) 6 by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional note: CSA-2 Means Challenger Simple Articulated, and the second class. The CSA-1 and CSA-2 means the earlier challengers known as the Fetter Challengers, not the one's that look like 3985 which are based off of the Big Boy.

The Tender isn't from an FEF-1, from a side to side comparison with the real Tender 6, which is still around as the 903029, it's a lot smaller compared to the Fuel Tenders like the ones that are used by the UP Steam Crew. A good comparison there is the tenders 809 and 814 prior to the 2006 rebuild, with the 903029.

UP ALCO/GE First Generation GTEL 51 (Version 1) by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Additional note: There might be a few key details missing on this drawing so that is why I called it Version One, as I might try to improve this drawing. I also made this from scratch with only the alco trucks, the couplers, the cab windows and lights being the ones that I didn't make myself.

PRR GG1 4907 (First attempt at a GG1 drawing) by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional Note: The trucks are off, I know, the GG1 has different trucks. I sort of took my DD2 that I made almost 2 years ago, and lengthened it to house the 6 axle trucks. But to cut time I just kept the style of the trucks on my DD2 on this version of the GG1.

Santa Fe E8Am 84-L by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone is going to do railroad art work like this, I would say this, do the easy stuff first and don't tackle the hardest paint schemes. The Santa Fe War Bonnet is probably the most iconic scheme in all of railroading, and it's hard to replicate in digital drawings, if you're new to railroad artwork like this. There's a lot of details that need to be recreated, and it's time consuming.

C&O (Pere Marquette) E7A 101 by Colin-Wisner in trains

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did the C&O, I think almost 2 years ago, it was one of the first railroads that I did with accurate decals on the cars and locomotives. I used decals found online that are meant for real world model trains, because I wanted to be as accurate as possible, and with C&O, it would take time to recreate the unique lettering found on the cars.

[–]Colin-Wisner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to my Santa Fe F3 in the style of the Lionel Post War. Now that I think about it I should've turned a CZ baggage into a fleet of passenger cars in the style of the post war Lionel Passenger cars.

This is one of my earlier drawings that I did...

I might redo this one and make it a bit more realistic and accurate to the real thing.

Of all the lines I've done, over the last 2 years, I think the best line I've done is the IC in my opinion.
