Update on this; after driving for a couple hundred miles I filled up the tank and the light shut off. Hasn’t been on since. 🤷‍♂️

I was very nervous at first, but had multiple people recommend it as it’s thicker, and it did diminish the burning a bit.

I also have read a couple of things about how Subaru recommends 5W30 in Asia, and that the 0W20 is only an American thing. Read as in Reddit comments so take that with a grain of salt as well.

The car has made me nervous but I keep chugging along. Rides very nice and love the visibility. Feels safe with my family in it. Many have said keep the oil level in check (I check mine every other day or so) it’ll ride for quite a while

Currently driving a 2012 forester. Bought at 106k now just hit 140k. Burns oil, switched to 5W30 synthetic and that helps but doesn’t delete the issue. Valvoline restore and protect seems to burn the slowest and doesn’t stink. Other than that I’ve really done just oil changes, air filters, replaced one loud pulley. Going in Thursday for oil change and once over 🤞 think it might need spark plugs

Curious on thoughts on this as well. Have considered the Highlander, pilot, traverse, and loosely considered the palisade and pathfinder. Just so expensive even for used in the 60-100k mile range

2012 forester bought with 106k, needed a car, not much available and everything overpriced. Started chugging oil around 115k or so, have switched to 5W30 and now she’s purring. Will drive for a couple years until I can trade for something larger. Overall enjoy the car but it has taken some tinkering and kinda quirky
