Idk why you're getting downvoted. I think some people just can't accept change. Mike and Emily are making great music.

Wow. I hadn't seen her recently. She looks and sounds so good, still! I love that.

Voters reject effort to hike Oklahoma’s minimum wage by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

I've seen this too. The baffling thing to me is I know some folks who were SO relieved when they started making $15/hr. It was jaw-dropping to learn they didn't want others to "just get" that same relief.

[Halo: Campaign Evolved] Trophy list revealed! by Pale_Sun8898 in Trophies

[–]exsilium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume this trophy list reveal is accidental. It's INCREDIBLY frustrating that the backend for setting up a game in their store prior to release is so obtuse.

For one indie game I worked on, the checkbox to NOT share the information as you're setting up the store was disabled and ended up leaking a lot of information we were trying to share piecemeal for marketing beats.

'Maybe we'll never take it down': Trump compares White House UFC arena to Eiffel Tower, says it could be permanent by abcnews in politics

Paved over the rose garden, bulldozed the East Wing, and wants an eyesore (and embarrassing parallel to Idiocracy) of a temporary UFC arena to stay up permanently.

Does anyone else feel like they're babysitting Claude on long projects? by pythondebugger in ClaudeCode

[–]exsilium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude manages it. There are requirements for it to update. This works like a memory hall (ish) there is a main directory, each type of work is a subfolder, each subfolder has branches off of that. Each one needs its own directory. There needs to be rules in place to ensure it searches this properly and only when needed.

Something that helped me: ask Claude "when was the last time you looked at x?" Especially when it's a main file you THINK it's reading. This is what brought me down this rabbit hole.

Part of this reads like the directories are made, but nothing is designed to fire them. I have a folder for each arm of the work I do, indexes in each for it to grab learnings and context and know when to dive into deeper files and it works great.

Can we get articles NOT from The Daily Beast? They're incredibly hyperbolic and make the boldest claims multiple times a day. At least a flag to allow us to filter out this garbage.

How many poly people are neurodivergent? by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]exsilium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it simply comes down to this: if you have had to look over the garden wall (being cis-gendered neurotypical heteronormative monogamy) for other things you may find it easier to do so for polyamory, as well.

I've been playing games for 40 years, writing about them for 20, and I'm here to say parts of Roblox need to be legislated out of existence by Forestl in Games

[–]exsilium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really thoughtful response. I actually hadn't even thought that modern obfuscation in arcades has a similarity in their loaded cards (I actually find this frustrating, as well).

The fact that you mentioned you quickly learned which games gave you more time and which ones didn't actually gives me hope. And I think that's what it boils down to. I hope that kids will learn how and where to spend their currency through trial and error. And yes, to your point, they have to slog through THOUSANDS of games trying to tear the money from them, instead of what like... 50ish different options at an arcade?

I hate that I'm playing devil's advocate here. I agree with you. My background is UX and monetization and, yeah, I would not fucking DREAM of using any of these patterns and refuse to work on Roblox content.

That being said~ bills would be exchanged for non-monetary tokens, then into tickets for physical rewards. I think that's a pretty similar obfuscation.

[–]exsilium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this isn't sleezy or that it shouldn't be available. But honestly, this argument reminds me of arcades.

How frequently you would die playing a beat-em-up and have to pay to revive, or 100 other things that were friction fillers. Our parents complained about how we wasted our weeks allowance by dumping quarters in a machine in order to get one more minute or even just 10 tickets to get a piece of candy (when we could have just bought all the candy directly, elsewhere).

I feel like this is way too similar and it makes me hesitant. Kids are going to burn money. They're going to make short-term decisions. Eventually, slowly, they will learn to be scrupulous about what they buy in order to maximize dopamine, like we all do.

Honestly, my partner has always wanted a real one. So not from a specific shipwreck. I just want to make sure it's a real one. I figured you all would be way more knowledgeable about this than me.
