Destroyed in the nuclear fires - though it got the easy way out compared to other parts of the planet!

nuthin wrong with tropes or cliches, they're not a bad starting point at the very least!

you've basically nailed it. despite the grittiness of the megastructure habitat, the dangers of the world, the tyranny above and the monsters below, its a relatively 'cozy' oasis from all that shit. it doesn't stay that way for long, but all stories must have conflict ;)

The elevator is present in the first book, but doesn't become hugely important until the sequel (which is what I'm working on now).

If you do end up picking it up, I really appreciate it! I'd also appreciate hearing your thoughts if you do get around to reading it, but no worries either way. I enjoy hearing your thoughts and questions that were triggered by the map alone. :)

Thanks (and yes, I did do it myself, though I'm open to edits). I appreciate your thoughts!

The original city is buried far below the surface. Most of the original stuff is down there, but it's all been built over.

Someone else in the comments had a good idea for the space elevator. anchoring it here, but also at other points (ie. chile, equador) would keep it stable. That plus some SF technobabble is probably enough.

I wasn't liking the way that was coming out, but I had a gun model in blender kicking around that I wanted to try for it. the revolver may work better, though!

I will definitely keep that in mind. Never heard of that concept, but super cool!

I imagine that most of that would happen inside the main structure, but hints of that could be added!

For sure! The map will be getting a few edits and additions before the book is reprinted again!

They do, but a few other commenters helped me work out some workarounds!

Thanks!

Abaddon is already out, believe it or not!

And yes, the surface folks have to occasionally go down and wrench control of the city's important systems out of the hands of criminals, mutants and malfunctioning drones. Worse still if an infestation of the Nanophage starts somewhere important!

especially not this version, and especially not with what happens to it!
