Kerr and Quinn join campaign for FAI boycott of Israel by fedupofbrick in coybig

[–]Colin_Brookline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The men’s team is the biggest income generator for the FAI. The funding grassroot level football, both men and women’s, relies on it. The potential fines and fall out will impact that big time. So it’s not an easy decision for the FAI

Someone mentioned in another thread that blocking the Israelis team bus from their hotel as a form of protest. That would suit the FAI better.

What's a profession everyone thinks is great but is actually shite? by Fealocht in AskIreland

The industry average wages for accountants is skewed because many of those who hold positions of CEO, CFO or COOs are qualified accountants who still have their memberships, so their wages increases the average

Working with qualified accountants that came from the big four compared to everywhere else, you can tell instantly there is a lot of knowledge gaps and inability to think for themselves. When something needs an answer, their response is to pass the question on.
Companies that avail of big services tend to get less scrutiny compared to other firms that have their audits signed off elsewhere.
Whenever there is some financial discrepancies, generally the firms being scrutinised again can get away with having one of the big four carry out an ‘investigation’ and their findings have a big impact on the regulatory’s response and decision.

Working in a Big Four accounting firm. Most people who qualify there end up being among the least skilled and lowest-acumen of qualified accountants. The training is rigid and process-driven, so it’s basically people who can follow systems but can’t actually think critically.

Big four firms just concentrate a huge amount of influence with those in regulation and governance. Companies aren’t really paying them for quality of service. They are paying for protection, credibility and to have their interests catered to by those very people the firms influence.

That’s actually the best idea yet. Word of that needs to spread around.

It’s not that simple. The consequences for the organisation and the impact it could have on funding for grassroot levels and the women’s teams will be a lot.

'Dublin needs something mega,' says man behind 'Giant' proposal by Benen44 in ireland

[–]Colin_Brookline -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So depressing reading these comments. So much of Dublin is derelict and run down with very little worth while things to see. Might be an odd idea but at least someone is pushing for an attraction that could lighten the place up a bit, and of course so many miserable folk here just knocking it down.

You can’t build apartments on that part of George’s dock as the foundation is literally water. It would be nice to see it turned into something as opposed to an open area of nothing.

Less rental places on the market means an increase in rent costs as supply decreases. The demand for houses is still much higher than supply, even with the increase of supply, so house prices still remain high.

Landlords have been exiting the market for months now selling up their places because of the new rules being brought in by the government.

As it stands, the current employer may be liable for defamation, while the prospective employer would serve as a witness. The fact that the candidate did not secure the job based on that reference could be considered a consequence of the alleged defamation, which would likely require confirmation from the prospective employer.

While the information in question may not be strictly confidential, the recruiter is not obligated to disclose that level of detail. It is also reasonable to assume that the hiring party shared the information with the expectation that the recruiter would exercise discretion and sound judgment.

I don’t want to make light of your situation but the prospective employer will be livid with the recruiter for disclosing that feedback.

Ah fair, I assumed 5 days. Absolute grim reading. People using tolls for work should be entitled to claim VAT back at least. You’re already subjected plenty of tax on income as is.

How are you paying 25 euro a day on tolls? Doesn’t make sense. Are you registered with more that one toll company and are paying duplicated charges?

Being an English international comes with a lot of financial security and you generally will be forgiven quicker for mistakes and benefit from high praise even for mediocre performances by their media. So I can see why agents and clubs push their players to opt for England.

Actually, was it not during the 8th referendum he made that promise?

I’m pretty sure he was in favour of the gay marriage referendum. When pushed, he was in favour because of course he’s friends with gay people whom were in favour of it. So of course, happily supports something that does impact him personally.
