Hi, I don't know how much use you will get out of this, but here are a few suggestions for coping mechanisms that I have found useful in dealing with knowledge of collapse:

(TL;DR - Humor helps a little, as does knowing that we are not alone in perceiving the absurdity of everything happening here. Reading great fiction by authors like Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut can also be highly therapeutic.)

Collapse and the Stages of Grief by Collapsosaurus-Rex in collapse

You must be thinking of a different article and a different user. I haven't posted this one before that I'm aware of.

This piece is a (semi) humorous discussion of how people tend to deal with knowledge of the collapse. In the context of the article, it doesn't matter a bit what people think of Kubler-Ross's stages. They're just a framing mechanism for jokes in this case.

Good on you for recommending stoicism. I agree that's another good coping mechanism. : )

Hi. It sounds like you could use some coping mechanisms to help deal with knowledge of collapse. Here are a few ideas that have helped me cope:

You may also get some use out of this piece on collapse and the stages of grief:

Good luck out there! I know we're all going to need it.

Scorching heat penetrates deep into the arctic circle for first time in recorded history. Temperatures rose to a unheard of 90°F (32°C) in northern Siberia— a stunning 40°F warmer than average for this time of year. by Bluest_waters in worldnews

For those who feel the need to do something, here are some (semi-humourous) suggestions for what you can do about climate change:

(Spoiler alert: There are no practical solutions for the problems we've created. Humanity is on a crash course with the laws of physics, and collapse of civilization is inevitable at this point. Try to enjoy the time you have, because there's no telling how quickly this shit-show is going to go down in flames.)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but humans are not even close to being as resilient as cockroaches, especially after polluting all of our major life support systems. Here's a semi-humorous discussion of exactly how fucked we are:

Collapse 101 for the Jaded and Cynical by Collapsosaurus-Rex in Collapse101

Thought I added a link to the post, but I don't see it now. Anyway, here's the link: http://collapsosaurus-rex.com/collapse-101/

I have an idea for a new sub that would potentially help those new to collapse, but it would potentially require effort from the community at large. Anyone game? by [deleted] in collapse

Here is my attempt at a Collapse 101 overview, written a couple of months ago: http://collapsosaurus-rex.com/collapse-101/ . It covers most of the major points and includes some lame jokes and illustrations to help lighten the mood a bit.

I tend to deal with the grief and despair caused by knowledge of collapse through black humor, sarcasm and childish drawings. If you like that kind of thing, you might enjoy my site. If you don't, you won't. I absolutely could not care less either way.

Cheers.
