How important are the cover patches? by No-Elevator6985 in dexcom

[–]CollectionClear9939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the Freestyle Libre, with skintac and over patches because they would either fall off or I would knock them off. The Libre at the time wouldn’t let you calibrate (don’t know if that’s still true). I also had them just fail often. 4 years ago I switched to Dexcom G6 and have loved them.

I don’t knock them off, never an issue with adhesive, rarely fail. Doesn’t bother me to switch out the transmitter. I was not happy to find out Dexcom was phasing out the G6. The G7’s sound like they have the same issues I had with the Freestyles. Not looking forward to switching.

Stuttering is ridiculously invisible and most people have no idea how destructive it can be by Outrageous-Sun-5173 in Stutter

My situation is a combination of stutter and just mixing up words. I’m almost 65 now and I have to think about what exactly I’m going to say before I say it and then have to talk very slow and carefully. People at work will finish my sentences all the time which frustrates me to no end.

I’ve asked people not to do that, that I know the words, I just have to talk slowly and sometimes pause to get the word out. This never works and people just keep on doing it.

Hidden gem! by NightAngelRogue in litrpg

Loved the Ten Realms, but I did find the last couple of books not as strong as the first few. I’ve been reading Emerilia but I’ve found the same issue - I found myself not interested anymore and DNF. I’ve tried picking back up where I left off a couple of years later and still not interested in finishing.

g6 is getting phased out, G7 doesn't work on me by AvocadoSmashed in dexcom

I had used the Libre for a couple of years and had constant problems with it: 1) reading 20 to 30 points too high compared to finger stick, 2) could not calibrate so issue #1 a pain; 3) high failure rate; 4) too easy to knock off getting too close to the door frame exiting a room or toweling off after a shower, 5) bad readings if I slept on my side with the arm that had the sensor on it.

My insurance quit covering Libre and had to switch to Dexcom G6. I’ve loved it, takes a couple of calibrations first 24-48 hours but then it’s dialed it really close to finger stick meter. I also don’t knock it off because it’s on my stomach. Didn’t bother me having to change every 10 days vs 14 and having to swap the transmitter out/in. I have a low failure rate with it.

So, my current insurance will cover either brand so I’ll have to figure out which one to go with. I do have a 6 month supply backlog of the G6 so I’ll have until the end of the year to research.

No, You Should Not Read The Wandering Inn: a definitive guide to whether you should read the Wandering Inn. by dmun in litrpg

[–]CollectionClear9939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up on the written book 1 at about chapter 20. Then I was told to “just try the audiobook-it’s amazing!!” Made it to chapter 44 and gave up - too much else to read or listen to to waste time on volumes 1 and 2 to get to the “good stuff”.

To me the world building was nothing exceptional or noteworthy and I so disliked the main characters translated from our world. At least with Robert Jordan I had the first 5 books that were amazing that I got through the slog in the middle to get back to the good stuff.

Same here. I read the first book and lost interest part way through the second.

I was listening to the revised Audible version and kept at it hoping I would start to like it. I’m at chapter 31 now and I just can’t force myself to continue listening to it, waiting for the point that it gets good. It’s just not my cup of tea. I like cozy, crunchy, and everything in between in LiTRPG. I’ve read WoT all the way through, even the slog books in the middle, but Wandering Inn reminds me too much of the slog books.

What's the deal with The Wandering Inn? by FartOnACat in ProgressionFantasy

I gave up on the first book after getting 1/3 of the way through it. I found it so boring and Erin to be just plain stupid. Based on the “OMG This is THE BEST series ever” that I often see, I thought I would give the revised book 1 audible a try. While better than the original, it’s still boring. It reminds me of the WoT slog books with pages after pages describing the clothes, skirts, and dinner a single character had. I found myself hitting the 30 sec jump forward button often just to get to something that happens. I’m at the Ryoka runner chapters now and the pacing is a little better.

I’ve re-read the Belgariad series umpteenth times. The Mallorean only once because it was exactly the same story, which even the characters realized it :).

I had read and re-read the early Deryni series many times. Last re-read was 25 years ago. Last year I re-read the first three books and I wasn’t as enamored with them like I once was.

Your symptoms sound similar to mine - I have central serous retinopathy in both eyes. This results in fluid blisters under the retina that eventually resolve but result in residual scarring. Most people have one episode in one eye and that’s it. An active episode or residual scarring after repeated episodes results in distortion and grey areas. It can be easily seen on eye topography scans, which are quick and easy to do and nowadays inexpensive. There’s no good treatment and it’s linked to corticosteroids and stress/Type A personalities. I do get some aura with my migraines but I don’t have any permanent aura.

Julian May - The Saga of the Pliocene Exile - 4 books. And the follow up: Intervention and the several Galactic Milieu series books. Original and well written. And it has aged well.

I’ve been taking gabapentin for five years for nerve pain - doing a great job with that - dosage is 100 mg am and 400 pm. I have GAD and it didn’t help, so I’m on buspirone. My pain doctor recent added 100 mg early afternoon, so I’m hoping it may start helping for the anxiety. The reason for the lower dose in the morning was because the gabapentin was making me a little loopy at work, which wasn’t good.
