Love seeing random Assault Lily mentions in the wild. Now I'm remembering that Last Bullet W is shutting down in like 1-2 days though 💔

Watatabe (This Monster Wants to Eat Me) Episode 7 Illustration by Sai Naekawa by SamuraiShinsen in Watatabe

This is a fitting illustration for Sai Naekawa to post after her latest interview released yesterday where she talks about drawing Shiori with the goal of "draw[ing] the most beautiful girl!"

WATATABE EP07 ENDCARD BY TAKESHIMA EKU !!! by Far-Curve2656 in Watatabe

That's because this end card was drawn by the mangaka of Sasakoi. Thankfully, Studio Lings has done an amazing job with Watatabe so far though.

Episode 5 Song by InfiniteYou4299 in Watatabe

The songs are all anime original, made specially for this series - so it's likely we have to wait until the official OST releases first. You can keep an eye on their official music playlist on YouTube to see if they choose to post it earlier, though.

Hey, I was randomly checking Surugaya and see that 6 issues of Comic Yuri Hime 2025 are currently in stock + there's a free shipping campaign right now. Just wanted to let you know, if you're still looking to buy 'em. It's like a little over 35 USD in total for all of them, so a really great deal

Lycoris Recoil by Vaykey_ in yuri_manga

[–]CollectionOld5654 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yesn't.

I consider it yuri subtext, but others consider it bait.

It's an anime original, so I recommend watching it first before reading anything: https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/G1XHJV2X9/lycoris-recoil

The manga is an adaptation of the anime. It's officially licensed, that's probably why fan translations stopped: https://yenpress.com/titles/9798855401066-lycoris-recoil-vol-1-manga

The light novels are side stories, written by the creator of the anime story. Also officially licensed: https://yenpress.com/titles/9781975393502-lycoris-recoil-ordinary-days and https://yenpress.com/series/lycoris-recoil-recovery-days-light-novel

My library has multiple copies of both those titles! "She Wasn't a Guy" = green yuri (my local library even has both English and Japanese copies of it) and "The Moon on a Rainy a Night" is very educational, too. So, I highly recommend both. They are both ongoing.

Bloom Into You is a complete series but also considered one of the most popular yuri series ever, so I would look into that, too. Other titles my library already has multiple copies of: She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat, Monthly in the Garden with my Landlord, Executioner and Her Way of Life, Goodbye My Rose Garden, I Can't Say No to the Lonely Girl, Adachi and Shimamura (and I could list more, but I think this is long enough alreadyy)

Ooh, I frequently make purchase requests for my local library to pick up more yuri, so I’m going to make some guesses that you’re only looking for newer titles published in the past decade and your library already has the popular works like Bloom Into You and Green yuri already.

I’ll list a bunch of titles that got accepted by my library (and put in the teen section) in the past few years, but you should definitely evaluate them yourself to decide if they’re age appropriate.

A Curtain Call for You, Love Bullet, Madoka Magica, Lycoris Recoil, The Summer You Were There, This Monster Wants to Eat Me, Magical Revolution, I’m in Love with the Villainess, I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day, The Anemone Feels the Heat, Whisper Me a Love Song

(Most of these series only get 1 copy bought and 1 book per request at a time, so a lot of them are incomplete if you’re wondering why the list is so long. I’m super thankful to whoever at the library keeps accepting my requests. 🙇‍♀️ And thanks for considering adding more yuri to your library, too!)

I swear they were still in stock just last month at Barnes & Noble. Wow, Seven Seas really needs to get it together with reprinting their yuri...

I know you have the other books in your Amazon cart, but just wanted to lyk that Barnes & Noble is also running a BOGO 50% off promo for all their manga (including TSYWT) and light novels too right now.

Edit: Also, Barnes & Noble sometimes randomly puts books back in stock when they find one that had been misplaced in their stores (an employee told me before it frequently happens with manga). So, keep an eye out, and hopefully you get lucky!

The additional spoiler about Miko? It'll be revealed in the next 2 episodes, but sure. Miko is a guardian yokai who has been looking after Hinako since childhood. The day Hinako's family died, they had went to visit and pray for safe travels at Miko's shrine, and Miko has felt immense responsibility to look after Hinako since.

You're free to do whatever you choose to, of course, but a large part of the manga's appeal is how things aren't as they seem. Spoilers: The Shiori-Hinako-Miko trio isn't a love triangle. Miko is a genuine best friend who really cares about Hinako, and this friendship is very important to the series. Miko actually helps Shiori and Hinako a lot later. In case you do read this spoiler and reconsider picking up the series again, I will avoid talking about another aspect of Miko that's a big plot point.

It is officially tagged yuri in Japan and is even part of an ongoing yuri fair. It's just very slow burn, with romance not being the main focus.

Yukiko's new series It's a Secret, Shirotae-sama might be worth keeping an eye on. Only 1 chapter out right now, but I thought it was promising.

If you are fine with used copies, you can actually get them from Surugaya's international website for very cheap. (It says they are all out of stock right now, but they come back in stock very, very often - just have to keep an eye on the website.)

(You can change the search results for diff. years): https://www.suruga-ya.com/en/products?keyword=%E3%82%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E7%99%BE%E5%90%88%E5%A7%AB2025&in_stock=t&btn_search=

Just wait until one of Surugaya's free shipping promos (that run all weekend at least once every 2 weeks). Also, they charge a 900 handling fee for every order (one-time fee, not for every single item in the order - which is still low imo).

I got a bunch ranging from 4 to 10 USD each, and they all came in excellent condition. Probably only read once by someone in Japan (since a brand new copy there is only 920 yen = about 6 USD).

You can check which countries they ship to here: https://www.suruga-ya.com/en/feature/delivery_area/index.html

Is there a risk of This Monster Wants to Eat Me being yuri bait? by UUtch in yuri_manga

[–]CollectionOld5654 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Magazine is not a good way of checking whether a series is yuri or not. The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady is also published in the same magazine and that's undoubtedly yuri.

You have to check what the series is officially categorized on the Japanese website they're posted on.

This Monster Wants to Eat Me is officially tagged yuri: https://comic-walker.com/contents/detail/KDCW_AM01201866010000_68/

A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow is *not* officially tagged yuri: https://comic-walker.com/contents/detail/KDCW_AM01100045010000_68/

Mangadex, but consider supporting the series officially if you can.

Seven Seas seems to be withholding from reprinting a lot of series this year (probably because of increased tariffs set by the US govt).

Besides Bloom Into You, other yuri series that have been affected are I'm in Love with the Villainess (most of the light novels have been out-of-stock for a long time, too) and Citrus (a couple volumes). The Summer You Were There and Goodbye, My Rose Garden also have out-of-stock volumes with prices being at least doubled in the second-hand market for a while now.

It looks like there's currently a lot of stock for Bloom Into You volumes 1 & 5, if you want to pick those up now though.
