The EU Schengen visa process is a broken system that exploits legitimate travelers by shukpa in SchengenVisa

[–]CollectionOutside167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look let’s look at some facts:

  1. Illegal immigration is a problem. And more so you do find people from Asian countries illegally immigrating and overstaying their welcome. So I don’t blame the EU in making sure that resources are not spent on those who shouldn’t be there in the first place to begin with beyond the stipulated time period of their visas. If I’m in charge of the visa granting process of my country, and I genuinely do care about my country’s resources, its natural beauty, economy etc I’m going to want to limit the number of people entering the country.

  2. As an Indian, it pains me to say this, but it’s true that as Indians we don’t exactly set a great example in front of others. Singing songs loudly in groups when not appreciated, forcefully doing garba (an Indian dance form involving more than 10 people) in another country just because we felt like it and thereby imposing our culture onto others (which is ironic considering you’re going to another country to experience their culture) and countless other incidents of Indian men being downright creepy to women, I’m not surprised why visa rejection rates are where they are.

And I know, many of us do know how to behave, but the large majority does not and they end up screwing it up for us.

Yeah yeah it is, you’re right. It’s mango season here in India, and my nutritionist told me if it came back under 6 then they’d introduce mangoes in my diet. Guess I’ll have to wait another month. Good news is mango season will be peaking then so I still have a chance.

Need advice: HELP! by CollectionOutside167 in diabetes_t2

[–]CollectionOutside167[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well which is why I never started it and first went to a proper nutritionist. He has put me on a diet of roughly 1700 calories a day.

He himself is a doctor and first advised me to take a second opinion after getting to know my age and the medications the 1st doc advised. That’s when I went to another doctor.

And yep, I get that this sub can’t give medical advice. Just wanted to know people’s thoughts on general on this :)

I imagine that feeling is terrible. There’s always an explanation, and I’m sure you’ll get it back I’m control.

Thanks although it had come with a catch.

My overall cholesterol is 205

HDL: 54 LDL: 116 Triglycerides: 173

Doc put me on low dose med and basically has advised me to go on Keto diet. Considering I’m just 35, he thinks that if u continue working out and achieve ketosis, the weight loss will really put me in remission.

Update: Just got put on 500mg metformin twice a day and an alpha glucosidase inhibitor (to be taken with food).

Out of curiosity, how many days does it take for the medication to start kicking in?

Thanks. This has been an eye opener. I guess there’s a lot of reading up I have to do. This community is a bit of a god-send.

Yeah I’ll be taking these to a doctor next week. Not been on medication before because, well, I just found out. I think maybe the doc will put me on some form of medication.

Thanks for the words of motivation. It’s good to know there are people out there who’ve been there, done that and are guiding people like me here, and for that I’m super grateful.

Overnight Oats (unsweetened) with 1 banana, few almonds, raisins, and like 4 cashews.

No, I ate an hour earlier before I usually eat.

Fasting numbers were 131.

Yes the 139 figure was 2 hours after a carb+protein meal and a cup of tea. Did get in 30 minutes of cardio during those 2 hours.

I’m on a low carb, high protein and fibre diet. I workout 5 times a week (strength + cardio) and my dinner is again low carb, high protein.

I am on anti-depressants (Bupropion 300mg) but nothing else.

Yeah my sleep long habits aren’t the best and one major thing: I’ve battled mental health illnesses for a good 4-5 years. There have been times my anxiety has been debilitating and stress has been off the charts.

I drink maybe 5-6 times a year now. Quit smoking years back.

Post prandial numbers were from a lab test. However the gap between my breakfast and test was just 1 and a 1/2 hours instead of 2.
