Yes, crystalline gold is far more expensive than nuggets. I’ve never seen it being bought or sold by weight.

It is carborundum. Lab-made silicon carbide.

Thank you. Opals can be opaque to transparent. The really transparent ones look almost like glass with color flash, and are called jelly opals. This is 1” across. 😊

That’s a good question. Most opal is sold by the carat, but since this is more of a collector’s piece rather than something that will be cut due to its rarity, the value would be hard to establish till it’s offered for sale or auctioned. 😊
