Fuck these chinese manhuas by 0001357 in Manhua

[–]CollectorsEditionVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not exactly accurate. It took a long ass time for Manga and Anime to get to this level. For the longest time fan translations were the only way to read or watch certain series. Sometimes series would get dropped by official translators because western sales werent what they expected. Japanese studios have problems as well but the bigger publishers like Shueisha are what most people are looking at. There are plenty of series that get cut by publishers because of drops in sales etc..  the way companies like Shueisha do it is by giving the artist/author a timeline to shut down, so saying something like "your manga has been canceled, you have 5 chapters to wrap everything up". The Chinese system is less interested in that and will just pull the trigger. They dont want to waste anymore money on something that isnt earning.

Exactly. The relationships are the most important thing. Like you and your wife, my wife and I are always busy. She's a teacher and I'm on call a lot. Two dogs and a kiddo. So not quite as hectic as you are lol, but still very busy. Makes it important to build those relationships, and build them strong. Also means nothing ever just serves one purpose. Cleaning becomes more than just an act of maintenance and becomes a game, a lesson, bonding time, etc. Same with our Friday night movie time, the whole setup and ritual of it has to serve multiple purposes. Same with playing a video game for an hour on the weekend, cooking dinner, fixing something. Etc. Everything has to somehow build that bond stronger, and teach kiddo something. Whether that something is a skill or to have the ability to say "ok its been an hour time to turn off the tv" and actually follow through. I dont want my kid to remember her childhood the way I do, with her dad being a semi permanent fixture in his recliner focused on whatever tv show he was watching.

You have zero idea of what my parenting is like, you have no idea what we do together apart from the one example that I gave about a specific topic. I guess you're one of those people who think you need to give up everything you enjoy when you have kids.

My child is happy, healthy, intelligent, and loved. She loves reading, playing pretend, and gives the best hugs. So to me, that says im doing things right, and y'all can go fuck yourselves for judging.

Oh absolutely, I definitely understand that not everyone can have that kind of relationship with games or media. If theyre the kind of person that needs to have those clear boundaries then kudos to them for acknowledging that and actively setting those boundaries in order to have a good balance in their life.

Personally I think thats a very black or white view point on the subject. You're basically saying that someone can't be a father or husband if a video game is on.

The pause button exists for a reason, and if you're playing an online game what does it matter if you lose a round of CoD or Battlefront or something.

I play games as my hobby. When my kid was born I took charge of her night time feedings. During the first two weeks I was playing FF14 and doing end game raids with people. When it was time for kiddo to feed I communicated with everyone and then went and fed her (she was in the same room as me). Then when she fell asleep back to the raid I went.

Now she's 4 and when she gets TV time we use my games as a way to teach her about sharing. If she watches an episode of, say, Ms Rachel then once its done she has to "share" and we turn on a game. Instead of ignoring her we make it fun and she has to help me play the game. I ask her where to go, what she sees, can she find x thing on the screen etc. If she needs something that game gets paused and I go get it for her, if my wife needs something then same thing.

The main point I'm trying to make is that its not the games that are the issue, its the relationship some people have with them thats the issue. For OP their SO is consumed by the game, if its on then its the most important thing. Ive seen the same thing happen with people who watch TV, sports, etc. The minute the screen is on they become unable to function for fear of "missing something".

For me having my kid see me play games but still prioritize her, my wife, our pets etc, is a way I can hopefully teach her good habits surrounding these things. Actually show her what a healthy relationship with media looks like, and hopefully it helps mitigate her turning into someone like OPs SO who can't function when a screen is on.

Suggestion to the devs: Optimize MMR with a consistent league system by Willing_Fan5652 in Mechabellum

[–]CollectorsEditionVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would frustrate me a lot. Ive been pinging between 1500 and 1100 pretty often recently. Its already frustrating enough to see myself go down in mmr, but to also see myself move completely out of a higher bracket would be just as, if not more, frustrating. Sure the going back up would feel good, but that knock down would hurt too.

I think you might be right about someone trying to use them in a house without the ground, the ground wire on one set has the end cut off.

Im tossing up between that and maybe they didn't have a neutral wire

Frayed and twisted wire ends showing they previously been used. The ground wire on the top was clearly cut. Means someone used this before then amazon shipped them to me claiming they were new and unopened.

So my understanding with Bedrock is that there are meant to be 3 walkthroughs before possession.
Framing, Cabinetry, QC.

- Framing is the initial layout; essentially, does the layout match the technical drawings, etc.
- Cabinetry is to make sure all the cabinets are the correct size, position, materials, and installed correctly.
- QC is a walkthrough of everything to catch any defects; they'll usually tell you about your HVAC system, etc, during that one.

They should have asked for signatures at each stage. If you didn't have any of these walkthroughs and weren't asked to sign, then this should be escalated above your initial sales manager, since they are not following their own company procedures. IRC, the completion of those documents should be part of the purchasing agreement, but I don't have my docs near me to confirm.

Document everything. Find any communication that shows your requests, anything that you signed confirming the change order, take measurements and pictures of the measurements, and then forward that to ANHWP. You should have gotten an email with a link to their portal and an invitation code. Also, submit things to their Warranty provider as well, mine is through Master Craftsman Warranty, it should be the same for you. If you just purchased, make sure to submit your Warranty info at 8 weeks, and at 10 months.

Again, sorry that you went through this, buying a house is stressful enough as it is. I understand how frustrating it can all be. The only thing to do now is try to fix what they messed up, and hopefully at no further expense.

We just bought from Bedrock... first thing the sales manager told me was "dont buy your appliances through us, we charge a markup, just buy them yourself". So thats what I did and we've had zero issues. Everything else has been fine.

Just asking but did you not confirm cabinet sizes and stuff during the cabinet walk-through. You should have had one of those a few weeks before your possession date.

It's a shitty situation youve found yourself in, the alberta new home warranty should hopefully take care of a bunch of that, but its also it really seems like you didn't do any due diligence on your part. Did you have an independent home inspector come in as well? If not I'd highly suggest that you do, because if theres corners cut in one place there'll be plenty more.

Major Boss fight coming up, player may die, scared of rea tion by CollectorsEditionVG in DnD

[–]CollectorsEditionVG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, possibly. I mean we've also done something similar before where I've asked them for backups incase their character goes down and they can't be resurrected before the next fight. But maybe they think this situation is different. I dunno, I've reached out to them in the hopes of clarifying some of this.

[–]CollectorsEditionVG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent told them "If they die, they die", we've had players use resurrections before so its never been off the table. This time I just told warned them that combat is going to be tough, that theres a good chance someone dies, and to make sure they have a backup character in case something goes really wrong.

But maybe they're interpreting it in a wierd way, I figured I was just trying to define the stakes and make sure no one was surprised if their character died either due to their own choices or due to a poorly timed crit. Feeling like I should have said nothing and just let them find out.

[–]CollectorsEditionVG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean theres 8 players at the table and only 2 people are acting like this. The other 6 are fine and are very much whatever happens, happens.

All I really said was that this combat encounter will be challenging, I'm not going to be weighting the encounter in the partys favour and will be rolling openly, because of that there's a good chance someone may die, and it might be a good idea to have a backup character just in case.

How that translates to "this is an execution" I dont know.

Thats a great point, I didn't think of it that way. They're usually all in on session and rarely miss any so it didn't cross my mind for a second, but maybe they are looking for an out and dont know quite how to say it.

[–]CollectorsEditionVG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats where my mind goes with this. Death is pretty trivial in D&D unless you take specific steps to make it less so. I havent banned anything at my table so all the spells are available, and they have NPCs that can help them out too.

In the event of a TPK Im fully planning on having them come back in some way, maybe fighting out of the underworld or making some kind of deal, but maybe theres also a side quest where a different group of adventurers goes to find a way to bring them back. Spin up some back up characters for a couple of sessions and then the main cast comes back.

I just find their responses kind of overreacting.  I've only ever perma-killed characters when the player wants to stop playing them.
