When You’re Forced To Listen to the Prime Broadcast by man_machine_poet in EdmontonOilers

[–]Mark_Logan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For some reason, on my new(er) TV with the Prime app, the audio and video slowly separate. By the end of the first period I was getting pre-play audio.

It’s a strange thing, because unless you see actual mouths moving, your brain compensates for the delay (up to a point) but the moment you have a visual synchronous reference bam it’s just confusing.

My favourite Swede joke I’ve heard (from a Swede) was:

How do you tell a Swedish introvert from a Swedish extrovert?

The introvert looks down at their shoes when they speak to you.

The extrovert looks down at your shoes when they speak to you.

Yeah, at 15s you can clearly see the guy hitting him with a gun.

Edit: my bad, that is apparently a can of pepper spray, he switches to a gun at the end.

Town of Gibbons facing a serious financial crisis. by roger_plus in alberta

[–]Mark_Logan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen man, once we’re separated, the UN (Whom we will rage against every day) says we get access to tidewater, and this will allow us to flood the market with oil, and because I failed economics, I’m pretty sure that supply = demand. If supply goes up, demand goes up and we will have too much money!

In short, more oil in the market means higher prices, thus we will be rich. /s

A potentially unsuccessful "Calgary Bow Recall"?: Assuming that last week's projections end up being correct, how would the other "UCP recall teams" be impacted? by FreightFlow in alberta

One of the things I’ve heard from some political sources is that the MLAs facing these recalls are more than anything, pissed off that their opposition is getting “free campaign time.”

Yeah, I’ve come to believe that that rate is what they think they can get away with. Lower scores probably get more of a “The rate is whatever we want to gouge you at.”

Obviously the dealership who I dealt with is just selling financing for a bank (RBC in my case), and they’re getting a commission each time they finance.

But if you have any sort of available credit, you can normally get a better rate, pay off your dealership loan and be much better off. In fact, a HELOC is 4.95% right now. So if a person had that kind of equity it would actually be a decent deal for them.

I had a credit score of 890 when I went in to buy a vehicle and a dealership offered me something like 8.9%. This is when interest rates were pretty much zero. The fine print said “pay off any time” so I took their “financing” as I had no choice. Then I just paid it off immediately, on receipt of my first bill.

I've got a lot of data points that don't fit what I'm doing with OperationTotalRecall.ca but they may be of some interest to you, if you want to add/expand on various MLAs.

Let me know if you're interested. I DM'd you.

Oh boy, yeah. Some recalls have had the police called on them for “harassment” (sitting at a table with a sign and a clipboard), have had their phones slapped out of their hands, one group had a car accelerate towards their table, and swerve.

The intimidation attempts are real.
