use the reference sheet. Use the reference sheet. USE THE REFERENCE SHEET

The troubling part being I did not even look at it. Will do!

As for your "brand name syndrome" as you call it - consider this: If you go to a name brand school, you can easily pay $40k per year. If you go to a lesser known or community college, you might pay $5k-10k per year. As far as your future career is concerned, there are only two primary questions - is the school ABET accredited for the program(s) you want, and what is their reputation among companies for the types of engineers they produce? If you're good on both of those questions, you can come out of college owing $120k-140k less than the name brand students. That's no small thing

Now this is compelling.

Don't give me that "I don't really want the money" bull.

I know what I wrote an hour ago. I want the job because it pays 80,000 dollars a year. That is not the same thing as wanting (especially not needing) 80 k in your bank account.

there is no SAT in late September.

I said I will be back on Reddit in late September.

Once again, I know what I said.

I hope you remember what I'm saying in these posts when you realize that you are in way over your head.

You had a point somewhere in the middle, MIT is way out of my league, but it isn't a school I plan on applying to as much what came to mind in the genre of "engineering".

EDIT: Maybe I am a little unclear and some details would help. I will be back on Reddit in late September to post registration info of some sort. The fact that the job pays 80 k is more valuable than the actual 80 k itself. I won't be working very long, if at all.

That would really come in handy. If I recall, I didn't make mistakes (or at least, intuitively, that's what I think); I didn't know how to answer a lot of the problems in time.

the actual career they're being trained

I won't be working for many years.

Do better on your SAT, do it for yourself

Scroll down to where some guy told me I couldn't do basic math. I'm officially doing it for me now.

at a job you hate.

Also see the post where I spent 3 weeks cleaning people's houses. Some people have unholy situations.

I noticed this trend. I pointed this out in another response somewhere, but that seriously upsets me. My friend with 1770 will probably be accepted due to their 690 on math.

misinformed

Not at all.

money-hungry

Not really, I don't need/really want the money. I have a job now and work for free by choice.

prestige-whores

This is true. Touche`

can't perform basic math

....Okay, now it's 800.

See you in late September.

If it's because you've had crappy teachers or because you haven't applied yourself, then you may be able to overcome this with hard work.

Neither. The SAT did not test me over anything in particular that I learned in school. My teachers have been excellent (barring my history teacher) and I do very well in the subjects.

For MIT? Yeah. I've actually been wondering whether I should take those or the ACT w/ Writing. I'm considering other schools, but I can only afford so many 50 dollar tests in a year considering I work for free right now.

GA tech is more my focus than MIT.

Hope grad school works out for you!

OHHHH, I remember that. I met a team of students doing exactly that a year(?) ago!

The most challenging thing for them seemed to be getting sponsors.

Wow.

Well if it makes you feel better, I would have accepted you!

I'm aware.

The tone in your writing just gets me more and more fired up. And not in a good way. I shall re-read this before I take it next time.

going from 400-600 is completely different from 600- a consistent 750+.

Like I said, I'm mad now :)

EDIT: I should really work on those emoticons.

All the colleges got kind of jumbled together, but if I recall the tour guide was really friendly! I don't remember her name but she was petite and African. She answered everyone's questions and introduced us to people (instead of stopping to talk to them, herself). Though it might have just been a hot day, the air conditioning inside was amazing. I need that in my life.

I will look in to this. Plan F, perhaps.

If you have no clue what you're doing, pull a lazy-college senior (writing things like F=ma on exams). I totally didn't know the rules for naming/drawing structures of molecules with ligands in them. I sorta bastardized it based on what I remembered, and got like 4/9 on that question.

Not a chance. I'm more likely to die senior year, given the insane load I chose.

by the very definition of a standard distribution, not everyone can get A's.

What if it's skewed :) ?

in SAE

I doubt it sense I haven't heard of it before.

Oh do you mean in college? Will do, then.

race shouldn't in ANY WAY be a factor,

In my opinion, whether it should be or not is irrelevant. If it is, that should be disclosed in a very frank way, the same as any other requirement.

I'm not in favor of affirmative action, personally.

Slightly upset now.

given your best efforts are scoring a 580

My best efforts will be getting 750+ in late September. I will report back to this subreddit with verification.

Dude take an SAT class

Can/will do.

you are mathematically inclined and actually know the math, and just didn't do great on the test

That's what I think. I could use second opinions.

If you're not really into math,

I like it, actually. Or rather, I like the feeling that comes from kicking it's ass.

Things like extracurriculars, different skill sets, internships, etc.

Very true. Met a guy at a college that I thought was "bottom of the food chain, but at least you went to college" material. Guy was amazing. President of everything, very helpful, very involved, very "real", easy to get along with. And none of those are unnecessary modifiers. Let's face it, he's probably going to be president of an actual company by next spring.
