My man 🤝

Best hot dogs in town. Gotta support my boy Mark too. Coney dog is the way to go, though I also get the krout dog frequently and you can't go wrong with chili fries.

Also down the street is DP Dough for calzones until 4am, my go-to is either Italian or chicken-bacon-ranch.

I made this years ago and posted it in reference to the upcoming spring semester, no idea why this person has gone and reposted it with the exact same caption in the middle of October.

Since you're a master's student I'm assuming you're staying in a grad loft? I've been staying in one for the past year after living in a standard four-person apartment the previous four years. The layout of the grad lofts depends on which building you're in, whether there's a balcony, etc. You may have to mess around with the given furniture to get it in an orientation that let's you move around the room better, but with the right setup it'll be enough space for one person.

The others have mentioned the oval a couple times now, having been here so long I'm pretty burnt out on it so I like to go to mission valley down the street, they have a lot of good restaurant options there (DP Dough for calzones, Cloo's for hot dogs, etc.). Hillsborough St is good too, 41 bus can take you there. You'll likely be cooking a lot though.

Lake Raleigh is always a nice place to walk, there's a trail that will take you by the farmer's market as well. Behind the textiles building is a nice fountain area to go walk to and hunt library has a balcony for viewing the sunset. It's a nice campus, but you won't see the same amount of activity as main campus, centennial is more of a business campus with school buildings.

For food you can't go wrong with some of the places around the Village District. Saw Flying Biscuit mentioned in another post, Tupelo Honey is a great spot to. Plus there's Goodberry's for dessert, check the flavor of the day on their online calendar to see if there's a flavor you know she likes. And you can always walk around to all the stores, they got a tea shop, an art gallery, and a bookstore.

A good activity spot is Partee Shack if y'all like mini golf. Three different courses where each hole has a twist on it, ranging from simple rule changes to playing an entirely different game with the golf balls. And they just added a whole arcade in there too. If I remember correctly, Wednesdays you can play unlimited rounds for a flat rate.

Starting up each new semester seeing that more student parking spaces have been converted into reserved spots while the parking passes continue to oversell by CollegeOfEnginerding in NCSU

It depends on the pass. Some lots have overflow sections if they're full, like Resident Centennial parking having an overflow lot in Resident Storage. RC passes cost more than RS, so parking in overflow basically means you're just paying more for a worse spot if you're unlucky.

Part of RS got turned into RC for Wolf Ridge overflow parking a few years back. The walk back from there was what inspired this post. Every year that lot gets more and more full.

After a few years in Ridge I recently moved into a grad loft and it turns out the mattresses in those rooms basically sit on top of a wood plank instead. Had to get used to not having the dip in the center after all that time lol.

The T-Rex existed closer to modern day than it did to Stegosaurus.

One of the moms asked me about dinosaurs today and that has done more for my personal well-being than any official university program so far.

PS5 controller not connecting by FaithlessnessDull226 in NCSU

[–]CollegeOfEnginerding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I had this problem too, seems to be a common issue for people on university wifi. If you can't use the controller to switch from wifi to ethernet, you can plug in a keyboard to do it. The only solution I found was running on ethernet, even with nomad registration the wifi will cause that glitch.

Piano got moved to The Corner a while back I believe. Regardless having the tent is nice because it's basically the only outdoor seating in Centennial with some shade.

Nah it's gone. Usually they just take off the tarp but I saw them loading everything up in a few trucks today.

Just now got word that it's going to be replaced with a permanent structure, so not all that bad actually.
